Page 9 <br /> Mashpee School Committee <br /> Minutes-Regular Meeting <br /> October 2, 1996 <br /> V. 6.10 Playground MaQ <br /> Report of <br /> the Super- Mrs. Blackwood indicated that both 6th grade classes would participate <br /> intendent in the creation proposed to be placed at the front entrance of the Middle <br /> (continued) School in the vicinity of the flagpole. <br /> The projected cost for the playground map project is $110 informed <br /> Mrs. Blackwood who noted that it will take approximately four hours <br /> to complete the project. <br /> Mrs. Blackwood indicated that she has preference to depict a world map <br /> vs. a US map. All funds would derive from the Social Studies Account. <br /> *Approved. <br /> 6.11 Legal Holiday <br /> Correspondence was received from Robert Antonucci, Commissioner of <br /> Education dated September 3, 1996 relative to Legal Holidays and <br /> accommodation for Religious Observances. <br /> Dr.DeMoura presented a list of Legal Holidays, and a partial list of <br /> Religious Holidays to the Committee for review. Dr. DeMoura suggested <br /> the School Department be cognizant of Religious Observances in an effort <br /> to accommodate students and staff, with time off for Religious Obligations. <br /> 6.12 Enrollments <br /> Dr.DeMoura noted 1872 students in pre-school through grade 12 are <br /> enrolled in Mashpee Public Schools. This figure is broken down as <br /> follows; <br /> Coombs School 522 <br /> Middle School 413 <br /> Elementary School 317 <br /> High School 379 <br /> Falmouth High School 241 <br /> 1872 <br /> The figure represents an increase of 74 students from last June. <br /> Dr. DeMoura noted that approximately 51 students currently attend <br /> Cape Cod Tech. <br />
