ASHPEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE -- REGULAR MEETING - APRIL 2. 1997 PAGE <br /> .8 Food Service Update - Dr. DeMoura reported a February deficit of <br /> $4,481.15 due to the purchase of inventory. The revolving account is <br /> shoring a balance of$53,986. <br /> Mrs. Lynch asked, "Why take a loss?" Dr. L eMoura responded l saying, <br /> "We're operating an additional cafeteria now, February had one vacation <br /> week, and prices have not been raised for the past three years. <br /> Mrs. expressed concern over the food service bid operating out of only <br /> one central cafeteria and asked are we doing that? Dr. I c loura said <br /> this year has been a start-up year, with expansion, and the high school <br /> was not ready on time. <br /> Mr. Paxton said he did not think the concept 6f a central kitchen was a <br /> good one. <br /> Mrs. Mills was distressed to learn that the Grade 9 students lunches <br /> continue to be ars issue with not enough fool available. <br /> Mr. Paxton suggested looping at Canteen's contract once agar. <br /> 7.4 FY97 Monthly Budget Review - Dr. I eMoura said as of March 17, <br /> the School Building Committee deemed the high school as being <br /> substantially complete and paid $42,000 in gas bills. <br /> Mr. Paxton asked, "Other than the $65,000 deficit, is there any other <br /> deficit " Lir. IMoura said there are Mill many outstanding issues such <br /> as a shortage of 150 eases of xerographic hic paper this year. <br /> Mrs. Lynch asked if the salary budget is still $70,000 deficit? Dr. <br /> elloura said he frit uncomfortable with specifics in that line item at <br /> this time but will report it at the next regular meeting. <br /> Mr. Paxton asked what percentage of the budget was spent at of April, <br /> 1996? Dr. DeMoura will obtain that figure and report back, <br /> .5 Enrollments - Dr. DeMoura reported there are currently 1,858 <br /> students in preschool through Grade 12. Cale Cool Tech has 50 <br /> l lash ee enrollments. <br />
