MASHPEE SCHOOL COMMITTEE ITT REGULAR MEETING - JULY 2, 1997 PAGE 1 i 8.4 Libra=Librq= Supervisor - Mrs. hills rade a motion not to vote on a Library Supervisor position. Motion was seconded by Mr.-Paxton. OTE: In favor - Mr-s. Mills, Mr. Paxton, Mrs. Cook, Ms. Macdonald; opposed - Mrs. Lynch. Mrs. Mills explained her motion stating she would rather vote on a . librarian for the Quashnet Diver and School and a .5 librarian for the Quashnet Valley school which would allow those respective principals to i supervise those librarians. She said the principals of the Quashnet Schools should be given the sane supervisory responsibilities as the i principals of the Coombs School and High school. Dr. DeMoura stressed the library supervisor position has not been budgeted for. Discussion followed on carious configurations of library positions and specials. Motion made by Mr. Paxton to hire one librarian at the Coombs School, one librarian at the Quashnet River School and one library assistant at the Quashnet Valley School. Motion was seconded by Mr-s. Mills. More discussion followed at this point. VOTE: In favor - Mr. Paxton, Mrs. Cook, and Mrs. Mills; opposed - Mrs. Lynch and IVIS. Macdonald. Motion made by Mrs. Cool, seconded by Mrs. Mills, to continue this meeting after- 10:0 o p.m. and a ij ourn at 11:0 p.m. VO'T'E; Unanimous .5 standardized Testing of Students Grades, - Dr. DeMoura outlined his memo in which ars estimation of$6,952.50 is given as the ' cost to administer these annual tests. 8.6 High School Owner's Manual - Discussed earlier in the meeting. �. . Parolski began her discussion be New , clarifying some statements made earlier in the meeting by a concerned Business parent regarding whole language. she strongly stressed that in her 20- year career in Il ashpee, the school system has never followed any of the pedagogy that whole language follows.
