Mashpee Wampanoag Affordable Housing
183 Meetinghouse Road
Plan Review
Page four
Sheet 12 of 12
1. The flared ends cannot drop into a 2:1 slope without protection under and in back of the end.
Stone chips should be shown appropriately.
2. The SWMA show the wick as being below the level of a 2 year storm. This means that the
wick provides a direct discharge of stormwater without there being any real attenuation of
pollutants such as nitrogen or phosphorus in the SWMA. See Section IX (J)(5) of the
regulations. The elevation of the grate should be raised to allow for some ponding of water
for that purpose.
Bureau Of Indian Affairs Plans
1. There are minordetails of the plans that do not conform to Mashpee Standards and should
be corrected if possible. If these plans are to be considered as part of the final construction
set they should be the same as the larger Road Construction Plans that were received.
2. The roadway cross section shown on page 3 of 10 for the entrance road shows two 11' travel
lanes with 1' berms. This is in conflict with the 40 scale construction plans that show the
travel lanes as 14 feet wide. Which is the correct width?
3. The entrance radii should be 35 feet to comply with the Regulations. See Section VIII(B)(2).
4. Driveway curb radius of 15 feet is acceptable.
5. Details A and B are not consistent with the Regulations for pavement and road base
thicknesses. The divided entrance roadway pavement pavement thickness should be 4-112"
with the binder course of 3" and the wearing surface of 1-112". Other roads can have a
pavement thickness of 112' with a binder course of 2-1114" and a wearing surface of 1-114'.
See Section i.-)( (D)(a),(b).
Sheet 4 of 10: Tye profile across the cul-de-sac cannot be flat.
This concluded the initial review of the plans and report as submitted. I would be happy to
meet with you and the design team to discuss my comments. Please feel free to contact me if
you have any questions.
Very truly yours,
Charles L. Rowley, PE, PLS
Engineering Consultant to Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe
Cc Bracken Engineering, Inc.
Mr. Jay Briggs
