6 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> June 18, 2018 <br /> APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS <br /> Public Hearing: Private to Public Road Conversion: Pierre Vernier Drive Katian Wa • and Gunter's <br /> Lane (Pimlico Hei hg ts}_ (continued) <br /> Being no further comment, the Board motioned as follows; <br /> Motion made by Selectman Gottlieb to close the Public Hearing. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Cotton. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Selectman Sherman,yes Selectman Cahalane,yes Selectman Gottlieb,yes <br /> Selectman O'Hara,yes Selectman Cotton,yes Opposed, none <br /> The second petition to be signed by 51% of the residents by July 9, 2018 was available for signature. <br /> Public Hearing: Private to Public Road Conversion: Leatherleaf Lane-, Bog River Bend, Miller Farm <br /> Road; and Ferrr_gully Pass: <br /> The Board of Selectmen opened the Public Hearing and read aloud the notice to discuss the private to <br /> public road conversion of Leather Leaf Lane, Bog River Bend, Miller Farm Road and Ferngully Pass. <br /> If the residents wish to move forward with the road conversion and place an article on the October 2018 <br /> Town Meeting warrant, it is necessary to submit a second petition by at least 51% if the affected property <br /> owners by Monday, July 9, 2018. <br /> The total estimated cost of the conversion of Childs River Last is $380,350. The maximum cost to be <br /> borne by each of the 60 property owners is $6,800.50. <br /> The Board of Selectmen opened the Hearing to solicit comment. <br /> Charles Hunter,president of the residents association made several comments regarding the betterment <br /> process stating that it seems unfair as many residents are on a fixed income. Mr. Hunter also said the <br /> timing of the petition process goes against the resident with only three weeks to obtain signatures. <br /> With respect to the letter mailed to the area residents Mr. Hunter indicated the notice was vague. Mr. <br /> Hunter also asked about hydro-seeding, curbs, the drainage, miscellaneous and interest payments and <br /> recommended the DPW take another look at the estimate. <br /> Ms. Laurent responded by stating some of the issues relative to the betterment process have been <br /> addressed at the prior hearing. This is an estimate proposed to cover all of the costs associated to this <br /> project. If the conversion is delayed until the May 2019 Town Meeting, work would comment in the fall <br /> of 2019. The miscellaneous budget allows for an increase in costs as the petition date is unknown. <br />
