9
Board of Selectmen
Minutes
June 18, 2018
Discussion and Award of the following Annual Contracts:
HVAC Service and Repair,.
Correspondence was received from the Director of Public Works dated June 14, 2018 recommending the
Board award a contract to Commercial Boiler Systems, Inc. for HVAC service and repair for FYI 9. The
technician fee is $93.00 per hour and the contract is the first year of a two-year bid.
Motion made by Selectman Gottlieb to award a contract to Commercial Boiler Systems, Inc. for
HVAC service and repair in fiscal year 2019 as recommended.
Motion seconded by Selectman Cahalane.
VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0.
Roll Call Vote:
Selectman Sherman,yes Selectman Cahalane,yes Selectman Gottlieb,yes
Selectman O'Hara, yes Selectman Cotton, yes Opposed, none
Paving and Catch Basin Adjustment:
Catherine Laurent, Director of Public Works recommended the Board award a contract to M.C.E.
Diitworks for paving and catch basin adjustment. The firm, M.C.E. Diftworks is a new contractor, and
the low bidder for the intended work in FYI 9. It was disclosed the contractor has mixed reviews in terms
of the duality of work. In consulting the Town Manager it was recommended the bidder be tightly
reined, and begin smaller scale paving projects to review performance. If the terms of conditions are in
breach, the firm would risk termination. The low bid cost savings is $30,000.
After considering the recommendation for award of contract, the Board of Selectmen made the following
determination;
Motion made by Selectman Gottlieb to reject the bid recommendation, and award a FY19 contract
to the Lawrence Lynch Corporation for paving and catch basis adjustment based on past and
favorable reviews by this responsive contractor.
Motion seconded by Selectman O'Hara.
VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0.
Roll Call Vote:
Selectman Sherman,yes Selectman Cahalane,yes Selectman Gottlieb,yes
Selectman O'Hara, yes Selectman Cotton, yes Opposed, none
