10 <br /> • Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> February 27,2006 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Special Event Application—Armenian Church of Cape Cod: <br /> The Town of Mashpee was in receipt of an application from the Armenian <br /> Church of Cape Cod requesting to use the Mashpee Community Park to <br /> conduct a vigil on Sunday, April 23, 2006 for the commemoration of the <br /> Armenian Genocide of 1915. <br /> Shahkeh Setian was in attendance to discuss the silent vigil request. An <br /> arched shaped sign taller than the Town's criteria is proposed and would <br /> need to be further reviewed by the Building Department. The applicant <br /> was also requested to contact the Veteran's Office for approval to fly the <br /> Armenian flag and to utilize the rose garden area. The matter will appear <br /> as a future agenda topic of the Board of Selectmen. <br /> Special Permit Application—Mashyee Chamber of Commerce—Night of <br /> • 100 Wines: <br /> The Mashpee Chamber of Commerce submitted an application for the <br /> annual Night of 100 Wines event on Saturday, June 3, 2006 that would <br /> benefit the Mashpee Chambers scholastic awards and its community <br /> projects. <br /> There was no representation to discuss the event at the Selectmen's <br /> Meeting. The matter was tabled at this time. <br /> Human Services Director—Mashpee Unplugged: <br /> Louise Patrick, Human Services was present to request the Selectmen <br /> support"Mashpee Unplugged 2006". The last"unplugged" event was <br /> held in 2004. This year specific activities are scheduled in the month of <br /> March through the School Department, Public Library,Council on Aging, <br /> Boys and Girls Club and Leisure Services. The activities are being <br /> promoted to raise awareness that there are alternatives to being"plugged <br /> in"to electronic equipment. <br /> The Selectmen unanimously agreed to support the "unplugged"awareness <br /> campaign as presented. <br /> • <br />
