J
` o do anything with that building at this point. I also think that r
the vandalism that you see in those pictures is such that it wouldn' t
have made much difference whether there was inch or inch and half
plwood put on that building, these people knew what they were after,
i .e. , the copper, wiring, etc. and they were going to get in one
war or the other, I know we have had problems boarding things up.
Ray has done it and Ray, has it helped:
Ray- responded no. They broke into it last nicht.
Chairman stated that we had boarded it up. There is no way as
unfortunately as I sound, of making that place- secure.. If these
people who did this and they are not kids , it takes strength do
to what we . see in those Pictures, they are going - to het into that
place. The next thing and I don' t want to say this but the next
thine is something else. I. don' t want to put ideas into peoples '
heads .
i
Mrs. Averett. stated that Mrs, Simpson had a good. idea when she
mentioned fixing up. the small. rec building and allowing someone
to live in there and keep an etre on the place. That was discussed
at a meeting here and to me, that was a very good thing to do .
Evident-1-Y.' there has to be someone near by. Mrs , Hires across
the street has recommended that something lite that be done. we
don' t even seem to be able to fix the little building. There is
nobody keeping an eye on i t.
Chairman stated than some of the thoughts about the little building
are removing the little building to place it alone the foundation
at the Senior Citizens' Center. The Senior Citizens ' Center is
a building from Otis and there is no reason whir this building
couldn' t be included, if funds were available. We, go back to
money.
Mrs. Averett asked who would pair for that.
Chairman responded good question., we don-' t have the funds now.
Mrs, Averett responded that we don' t even have the funds for a roll
of tar paper.
Selectman Garland stated that he would life to mare one small
observation, There is and was donated to Mr. Green to the
Mashpee - l.d Town Restoration Conuittee or whatever the title was
at that time, there was at least $35 .00 that I am aware of that
is/was in his hands .prior to the time that he found it necessary
to resign from that Committee, At least two rolls of tar paper
could have been purchased.
Mrs, Averett asked selectman Garland if he also didn' t mention at
one time that he knew of someone else that was willing to rake
a donation. 4
Selectman Garland responded that he does and he still holds forth
but until he sees some find of activity, he will--not donate it.
He doesn' t want to donate $200. 00 just for it to lie some Place.
Regarding boarding, I point out to you Mrs. Averett, the situation
_4-
