-Town Meeting for funding and implementation., ., I f the Town votes it,
that' s what will happen.
Selectman Thomas stated that' she did not remember a Federal funding
going I"' ntb the Recreation Building. The Town took on the whole
concept, I think that you are right that the Town should make a
decision as to what is done with it.
Nancy Blakeman stated that she has been very much in favor of
keeping that building. Vandalism is a problem and people have
to become responsible enough to tell who. has dome the vandalism.
You have to contact these organization and people face to face and,
tell thea what you reed right now and -go forward-. You - have to
be. specific as to what you need right now. It has to be well
organized and- personal contact. It is the only way you are going
to -find out. You have to get firsthand. I personally don' t think
that building should b.e moved over to the Senior Citizens ' Center.
I don' t think it will meet their needs . People do not cone forward,
you have to go to thea.
Chairman recognized the Executive Secretary.
Executive Secretary asked the Board to consider deferring all action
at this time and that anyone who has any ideas relative to the
buildings contact him prior to 4: 30 -on Mon-day.. He will rake
recommendations to the Board next Wednesday.
Mrs. Averett stated that many people can not attend these day
meetings, They work and can only come at night.
Selectman Garland moved that action on the subject be deferred
until the evening meeting of January 7, 1981, and that in the
meantime, the Board write a letter to -the known associations exisiting
within the Town inviting thea to either offer their .suggestions for-
the use or their contributions to the use of the buildings in
question prior to the afternoon of Monday, December 29th and further
inviting interested parties of these associations to attend the
January 7th meeting. Seconded by Selectman Thomas and declared a
vote by Chairman.
Chairman declared hearing closed- at 3:55 . .
6 . recreation Director met with the Board in regards to a light pole
to be used for skating and hockey.
Recreation Director stated that he spoke with Torn Carroll and they
seat a letter out stating that we could do this.
It was found , that the letter has not been received and Brad was
requested to leave and call the Insurance Company to see if this
had been done. He returned and informed the Board that Mr. Carroll
had been out sick but that the letter would be sent out and we.
would have it by next Wednesday. It was suggested that we do not
put a switch on. there for the police to switch on and- off because
you are saying when it is safe and not safe. Insurance wise it is
better to have it on all the time,
Action was deferred until next Wednesday at 2 : 30 ,rn.
 _
