BOS Admin. Meeting 11/3/81 Page 2 . • $33 , 000 in transfers from other accounts , $80 ,000 from Revenue Shar- ing, $20 ,000 to be raised and appropriated. Of the $20 ,000 , $14 ,000 will result from rescinding and revoting, and $ 6 ,000 only will be new money being requested. Mr. Murphy continued that a couple of unpaid bills may be removed from "Unpaid Bills" of prior years , as well as a possible change in the amount being asked for equipment stolen from the Highway Department. Regarding the Warrant, Sel. Thomas stated she has heard a couple of questions that are being asked on the street. What about the new position in the Police Dept. , at a time when we are supposed to be cutting down? and Why the clerk being requested for the Board of Health, when the position approved in the spring was supposed to cover that? 8 ) Sel.. Thomas jumped down to the Firefighter Contract. Chm. Garland asked what the problems had been.. Mr. Murphy explained that they were minor, and had been ironed out last night. There was a slight change in the wording relative to being excused for Union activities, but this was resolved to everyone ' s advantage and satisfaction. He continued that the contract would be ready for signing either tomorrow or before the Town Meeting on Monday. 4 ) Regarding Tom' s Place, Mr.. Murphy has heard rumors that there will be no sale, and that Lashley will be trying to reopen. The suspension period • has run out. Chm. Garland stated he feels something should happen -- that the date should not be allowed to expire and no notice taken of it. Sel. Thomas said we could suspend it for the rest of the year, but she pointed out that Quashnet Valley has been holding a paper license for years , but has not been exercising it. Mr. Murphy asked if he might contact the real estate agent to find out what is happening on the potential sale? He was directed to do so. Chm. Garland said he felt we should at least send a letter to Lashley, and he feels the license should be suspended. 5) Regarding the budget forms , Sel. Thomas has reviewed them, and thinks they are fine. Very little change from previous years , except for the more workable size. Chm. Garland said he had no problem with them. Executive Secretary may proceed with the use of same. 6 ) Mr. Murphy asked if there were any questions on the Highway Union Con- tract? Chm. Garland said he noted there was a jump from 3 to 5 days of sick leave, before a doctor' s signature was required. Sel. Thomas noted the status of the Town Hall Custodian. She said the position was approved as such at the 1979 Annual Town Meeting. Mr. Murphy reported that this could be changed - he has discussed the possibility with Mr. Jacobson. Sal.. Thomas asked how is the performance of the Town Mechanic? Mr. Murphy will ask Mr. Jacobson for a report on that. Sel. Thomas pointed out that we have a mechanic at the Fire Department, and Ray Hall at the Police Station , what does that leave for the Town Mechanic - enough to keep him busy? Chm. Garland noted that the new contract makes a change in the number of personal days , too, with one more being granted.
