Minutes BOS Meeting
1/6/82
Page 3 .
Chief Gould said he will roll -the ambulance with two men
during the day when he is there , and he always goes himself.
.
If an engine is needed, , he will call for it.
It is a differ-
ent story at night, he pointed out. But following this policy
will cut down on the overtime, as it necessitates fewer call-
backs.
Chm. Garland said he would like to commend both Chief Gould and
Chief Frye for .their responses to this Board ' s question. Chief
Gould said he feels he enjoys a good relationship with the Po-
lice Chief. Chm. Garland thanked Chief Gould for appearing.
BRUCE CADMAN - GENERAL CODE PUBLISHERS
Mr. Cadman, a Sales Representative for General Code Publishers
handed out booklets to the Selectmen, and showed them samples
of the work his company does in codifying and publishing regula-
tions and by-laws for towns. He also presented the Selectmen
with a list of 850 customers . in the Northeast that they might
contact as references . He pointed out that their contract would
include:
1) Research of records;
2) Substantiating records and how they were
promulgated;
3) Check against statutes-and case laws;
4) Send a report containing an analysis of
the Town' s legislation.
At this point, they would wait for directions from the Town.
Sel . Thomas asked, since he had been peeking at our records , how
did he feel 'they were? " Mr. Cadman responded, "no different from
most towns" , and pointed out that most of our records are complete.
Sel . Thomas then asked if he had any idea of the cost of doing
this for Mashpee? Mr. . Cadman responded that it would cost be-
tween $5 , 000 and $6 ,500 , payable over two years. The project
would take a year to complete. If the Town elects to pay for it
over the two year plan, they don' t get the finished product for
two years.
Mr. Cadman pointed out that this really relates to all departments:
Board of Health, Planning Board, General By-Laws , Personnel Board,
etc. If it involves more departmentsthanthat, it would cost "
slightly more. Also, you increase your update costs with more de-
partments.
Chm. Garland asked how many books are included in the price? Mr.
Cadman responded 35 hardbound, and 100 softcover books. Chm.
• Garland thanked Mr. Cadman for coming, and asked him to provide
the Selectmen with a firm quotation. Mr. Cadman promised to send
a contract in the near future.
