Page 5 .
Extract from Minutes of January 6 , 1982
BOARD OF SELECTMEN
• Page 2.
MUSEUM
Mrs . Simpson said she had another concern: an article
that appeared recently in the Falmouth Enterprise
which criticized the Selectmen for not having the
Museum open. (Sel. O 'Connell interjected, "One Select-
man, mainly")
Mrs. Simpson said that reporter should go through the
old minutes of Selectmen' s Meetings and find out how
hard it was for the Selectmen to get records when
they were requested. It was being supported by Town
funds at that time, and those who were operating the
Museum repeatedly refused to give an accounting of
the monies . All :Town agencies are required to do that,
but those running the Museum seemed to think they were
exempt from giving any accounting, she said.
Sel. O'Connell said the reporter had apparently gotten
his only information in a phone call he had made to
Mr. O'Connell early one morning, asking when ' pebple` (`.
could go through the Museum. He explained that the
Town Meeting had refused to fund personnel for the
Museum, therefore it was not open. From this conversa-
tion, the reporter had apparently drawn the conclusions
he published in the paper.
