BOS Meetinc, 2/3/R2 • Page 3. Mr. Murphy asked if the Board wanted to give him blanket authority to sign these things? Sel . Thomas said that was her feeling, as long as Town Counsel prepares them, and in- structs him to do so. 4) Chm. GArland reviewed the most recent problem the Board of Health has had with the performance of the Landfill Con- tractor (see letter attached) . The Board of Health is re- questing that the Board of Selectmen , as the appointing agent , participate in forcing the Contractor to cease his activity of excavating too near the road. The Selectmen in- structed the Executive Secretary to send the copy of the letter to Town Counsel, and request that he take action. 5) Chm. Garland reviewed the letter from Holmes and McGrath and the Memo from the Board of Health, requesting funds for on-going engineering work at the landfill . The requested amount of $1,650 would cover from now until the end of this fiscal year. Sel. Thomas moved that amount, to get the Land- fill in better shape. It was a unanimous vote. 6) Mr. Murphy had prepared a memo requesting approval of a payment schedule of Highway Dept. employees during the recent- absence of the Sunerintendent. Chm. Garland said he • felt approval was automatic, on the basis of prior practice. The other Selectmen agreed. NEW BUSINESS 1) Regarding the taking on a CETA employee , Mr. Murphy reported that the Treasurer has interviewed the candidate, and feels she is competent to lear the needed work in that department. The Selectmen felt it was not necessary for them to grant their permission, but gave the go-ahead. 2) Chm. Garland asked what it was the School Band was requesting to sell at the Specail Town *fleeting on February 11? Sel. Thomas said she believed they were going to sell pictures , possible a number of things , to raise money for new uniforms. She moved approval of their request. It was a unanimous vote . 3) Regarding the request of the Recreation Director for the use of the gym for women' s physical fitness classes, Chm. Garland asked who was going to teach the classes? Wendy replied: Tom Beleckewicz, who was present. She hopes the classes will cause no interference with Town Hall activity. Sel . Thomas sees no problem - they can close the door, if necessary. Wendy stated that they can use that downstairs for the February movies • for the children during their February vacation, too. She felt that might have interferred a little with the Town Hall workers during the Christmas school vacation. She was told to go a- head with that Plan, also.
