He explained that he
does not own commercial property, but would plan to
operate his cab from a mobilephone installed in the
cab. He doesn' t think there are any other taxiis oerat-
ting in Mashnee . . . . .most people have to call Falmouth or
Hyannis .
_Mr. Murphy corrected him by saving there are a couple ,
at least, this Board has issued a couple of permits.
Sel. Thomas said she has no problem with issuing another
taxi permit, providing there is no zoning nroblem. She
suggested he check with the Building Inspector.
Mr. Derrick said he had checked with the phone company,
and they said there are other _people operating cabs that
way. Chm. Garland said he had better find out how long
it would take to get a phone of that kind.
Mr. Derrick said he knows the insurance costs will run
high, but he is looking for a nartner. But he feels if
he already has a license , it will make it easier for him
to get a partner.
• He left to sepak to the Building Inspector; returned and
said he had phone the telephone comnany, and found out
that using that kind of phone would cost 5400 a month.
He was shocked that it was that high.
Chm. Garland said this Board would take the _request under
advisement; Mr. Derrick should return next week after he
has spoken with the Building Inspector and obtained more
information on his telephone service.
5) Relative to paying the Assistant Town Account the salary of
the regular Town Accountant while she fills that position,
the Selectmen approve the action based on prior practice.
6) Regarding the resignations of Arthur Morlev and Janet Dur-
mer from the Finance Committee, the Selectmen acknowledged
them, with regret. Both will be send letters of gratitude
for their past services . That creates two vacancies on the
Finance Committee ,-. to be filled at the next election. Sever-
al individuals have expressed interest. On one nossible
candidate, a question of conflict-of-interest has arisen. Ad-
vice on this matter is being sought from Town Counsel .
EXECUTIVE SECRETARY REPORTS
Printing of Town Report: Mr. Murphy reported that apparently Rene Press ,
• the low bidder on the printing contract, is apparently having a problem
obtaining a performance bond. He promised that we would receive a letter
from his insurance company, stating that bond would be forthcoming, last
week. No such letter has been received. . We still have Rene' s 5500 bid .
bond. Mr. Murphv has checked with the second lowest bidder - and he is
still interested in receiving the bid award. Mr. Murphy recommends send-
ing a certified letter, asking for bond assurance , and setting a deadline .
He was told to proceed.
