Chm. Garland called the hear-ing closed. 6.:15 p.m. - Chm, Garland opened the public hearing o .the petition of New England Telephone Company to - install a new conduit on Old Barnstable Road. No one from the Telephone Company was in attendance. Mrs . Arena Tanneyhill and Mrs . Charles H. Cuthbert were present to asked questions as abutters . sel.. Hanson moved to postpone- the hearing .until a representative fr . the Telephone Company could be present to answer questions . Continuation is scheduled , for June. 8, 1983 at 6 : 30 p.m. Motion was seconded by sel. Terry. Motion Carried. 6 : 20 p,m. - Board accepted a flag from. Ms . Anne T. Shaw which she donated to the- Town. in memory of her late father, Edwin F. Tarbox,. who was a veteran of world War I . Chm. Garland said that this was lovely and gracious- gift. Board thanked Ms . Shaw and said the flag would be- at the police/fire Complex. As there was time available before the next scheduled appointment Chm, Garland directed the Board to old business . OLD BUSINESS: 1. •'2 After reviewing the memo randur s- from the Recreation D irector and the Board of Health, kelative to the Special Employees Desi nations , sel. Hanson roved that the .Farb and Recreation Advisory Committee and the Board of Health . be designated as Special municipal Employees . Seconded by sel . Terry. Motion Carried.. . . On the memorandum from the Personnel Board relative. to the .bids on the Falmouth/ ashpee cranberry- bo gs the Executive Secretary explained that Falmouth had awarded their bid to Handy Cranberry Trust and seeing as how that patr.ticular bog. is owned jointly, it is - Very difficult to award our bice to Hobert Hallett and Donald L. Jermyn. Sel. Hanson feels that it should -be atwrded to Hallett - and Jermyn as their bid specifies $12. 00 a barrel in comparision to Handy ' of - $5 ,00 a barrel. F e u.tive Secretary said that the specifications for the hies had not been specific as to how the cranberries should be picked-. Handy wants' to wet pick and how can a distinction be rade between Falmouth's berries or Ma8hpee' s berries . Chm. Garland explained the situation and the impractica- bility of the natter. He also recommended that the Board meet with the Conservation Commission to discuss this -matter further , in :two weeks .-.-- - ,Board concurred. 6 : 30 p,ma Police Chief Curtis Frye care to discuss with- the Board the crea- tion of a Civil Defense Auxiliary. Chm, Garland questioned the liability insurance for the individuals who would join. Chief Frye stated that the liability insurance comes under a section of the civil defense. He said the government takes care of that.
