Albert Hollander was in to discuss with the Selectmen the Popponessett bridge and the heaver trucks going over that bridge. After -much discussion Chm. Garland suggested Town Counsel put into a memorandum all the ' recourses the Town has relative to this matter in time to get an article for Legal. and Engineering funds -at Town Meeting. Board returned to old business and the memorandum from Police Chief Frye relative to the probation period of Patrolman Gerald Umina. Chief Frere said that he would lite. to defer his probation for another six months . Sel. -Hanson questioned whether- the contract would prevail. He also asked to see all the information pertaining to this natter. After much discussion the Board felt that they. should take tentative- action. Mrs. . Thomas asked if the. notion on the. appointment couldn' t be -made retro- active.e. Motion Carried. lotion by Sel, Hanson to amend the motion to' . state "to extend the appointment of Patrolman Umina. for an addititonal six month terra to expire May 10, 1984 subject to. the continuance of the probationr r period for the -duration of this appointment as per the collective bargaining agreement. Seconded by Sel. Terry. Notion Carried. Board 'Interviewed Mr. Garr Ellis for the position of Assistant Building Inspector. Board appointed Mr,. Douglas S. Board as Assistant Building Inspector. NEW BUSINESS : 1. Board reviewed the petition from Attorney- Kathleen Franklin relative to pushing a water pipe- under Monomoscoy Road. Board recommended that the article be submitted at the next town meeting. 2. ) Board took no action on the request from the DENS regarding the closing part of Great oak Road until they attend -the meeting of the south Cape Beach' State Park Advi-sort' Committee and discuss this matter.
