Thomas asked how much vegetation was going to be killed <br /> and if they were changing a drainage pattern? Ernie Virgilio <br /> replied that he did not believe they would be changing the <br /> pattern and that -15 to 20 feet of vegetation would be lost . <br /> Selectman Hanson maintained that he wanted to talk dollars <br /> and cents. Mr . Re said that he were not asking for <br /> permission to do the work; only if they could use it for <br /> discussion with the contractor and then core back to the <br /> Selectmen. <br /> Selectman Thomas riled if the f i l l could be used at the <br /> landfill Mr. Re replied that it would cost money to <br /> transport it -- 40 cents a yard. Ernie Virgilio said that he <br /> would not put the whole 7,000 yds# in the ravine and that he <br /> would stockpile l some of i t. Also, he mentioned that it would <br /> be an area to be used years from now for storage of water <br /> mains, hydrants, manholes, catch basins, etc . He said that <br /> they would not talo away the buffer zone or move towards the <br /> sou th . <br /> Frank McDonald, owner of an Osterville company and a Mashpee <br /> taxpayer , addressed the Board. He Mated that he was also <br /> senior consultant for Morris and Hatch Construction Consul- <br /> tants <br /> on ultants and that he was asked by a sub-contractor for this <br /> project to tae off the site work requirements. He said that <br /> his calculations were at the time after cut and fill if taken <br /> down to the level of the plan, there would be 11 ,000 cu . yds. <br /> of fill to dispose o and that the gentleman who contracted <br /> with him to prepare the bid fora submitted his bid to the <br /> town's general contractor on the basis that he would not <br /> remove the fill due to the excess cut . He indicated that his <br /> sub-contractor lost the bid because of the enormous fill to <br /> move to his competitors. He .commented that his bid was <br /> accurate . <br /> Selectman a n son said that he would l i e to take t h fill <br /> situation under advisement so that he could look into It <br /> further . <br /> Mr . Laycock commented that the ravine woul d not be filled <br /> entirely. The original survey was the architect' responsi- <br /> bility <br /> e pon i-- <br /> ilit and there was a mistake i n the survey; that being, the <br /> well was much closer to the street which meant the building <br /> had to be moved 40 feet . The topography of the building area <br /> was changed which caused the building to be raised feet <br /> which re ulted with 5,000 cu. Ards. in excess of fill . <br />
