Garland asked - if . there were any proponents to speak <br /> in favor. Mr. Brian Anderson spoke .in favor and said , that <br /> he had been in the ostervil.le store and felt it would b <br /> a good addition to the community. Nor. Peters . said that <br /> he was in favor and felt this would be an asset to the <br /> .town. <br /> Chm'a Garland asked if there were any opponents. Mr. <br /> Frederick- Blythe opposed the license, He stated that <br /> the townspeople are well served by the established businesses. <br /> He mentioned that there are plenty of businesses with liquor <br /> licenses within' a mile radius in that area. <br /> Chm. Garland asked if anyone- else would like. to speak on <br /> this matter. Hearing none he said that he- would like to <br /> take this under advisement for one week. Sel. Terror felt <br /> a decision should be- made as he was in favor. Sel. Hanson <br /> stated that he would like to go see the shop in Osterville. <br /> Beard decided to take under advisement- for - one week. <br /> 7:15 p.m. - Nor. Melvin Darack, President of the Ash met Pond A-ssociation <br /> .and Selectman Costa came. to discuss the grant for the feasibility <br /> study of Ahumet pond and the support of the. Selectmen for an <br /> article at the annual 'town meeting. <br /> Executive Secretary gave some background on the grant and <br /> explained that the total 'cost of the study is for $75, 000 <br /> and the grant is for $52., 500 and that the two towns have to <br /> raise the difference. <br /> Mr. Daraek gave a synopsis of, where .-the---grant came from, which <br /> .is the Clean Fakes Progr� and that the Associ.ati.bn was hoping <br /> for a diagnostic and preservation study. <br /> Chm. Garland asked if, the scope of the study would- be intro- <br /> ducing dire into the' septic tanks,,' Mr. Darack said he was � <br /> .not qualified to 'answer this . <br /> Mr. Murphy quoted from a memo of June 7, 1983 .where Mr. <br /> Buckingham agrees that a diagnostic study would be valuable. <br /> Ms. Carob. Jacobson urged that the town- support this article. <br /> She stated that we should consider every way we can to protect <br /> our waterways. <br /> Sel. Costa said that if the town of Niashe does not support <br /> the article the whole project will go down the. drain. He also <br /> stated that the Town of Falmouth Board feels the difference <br /> should be shared. 50/50 percent. He stated that the access <br /> road was in Falmouth but the greater majority of the landowners <br /> lure on the Niashpee side. <br /> Chm. Garland asked Mr. Thomas for her comments..
