BOARD OF SELECTMEN <br /> MINUTES <br /> WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 1 , 1985 <br /> Present: Selectman Thomas, Selectman Terry, Selectman Hanson and Executives- <br /> Secretary, Joseph Murphy <br /> Guests: Chief Hartin, Ernie Virgilio, Carol Crowell-,• Vernice Polka., Doug Boyd, <br /> Andrew Gottlieb, ,Jayne Hendricks, Arty MoseIy, - Judy Mi11 S,. Monica M I all ; <br /> Wendy Rubin, Diane Rommielmeyer, Deputy Chief Cooper, Chief Frye, Vernon <br /> Pocknet, and Michael Piotrowski <br /> Appointments & Hearings <br /> :00 ! Michael Pietrowski was in as an individual working on a project that would <br /> benefit an audio visual staff. Mr.- Pietroski explained that he would like to take <br /> the audio visual staff to China. He has spoken with Andrew card, Congressman Studds, <br /> and representative Cahir and has found grants to help fund this adventure. Michael <br /> stated it would- be atwo week trip that would include . oing a video on the Capital , <br /> recreate Admiral uwold' s trip up the Yangtze River and an audio visual demonstration <br /> to a middle school in china. The trip would be scheduled for April of -198 . What <br /> Mr. Pietro ski was requesting that the Selectmen grant a waiver of the time frame <br /> and allow an article on the December special town meeting for $10,000 the balance <br /> that would be needed after all grants. <br /> Selectman Hanson stated he would not support this request. Selectmen Thomas and <br /> Terry voted to insert an article on the December 2 special town meeting warrant. <br /> Mr. Pietrow ki advised the Board that if he does not have his facts and figures <br /> ready by the special ton meting he move the article be pos-tponed. <br /> New Business <br /> 1 The Board rec ie ed notification from the Attorney General ' s office tha t he <br /> has disapproved Article 12 of the Annual Town Meeting which would charge the <br /> horsepower of boats on the MashpeeWakeby Po-nd. Mr. Murphy read the decision of <br /> the Attorney General. <br /> Andrew Gottlieb stated that the Town should take step to gain control of the <br /> Pond as in the decision of the Attorney General the State has control. Mr. Gottlieb <br /> 'urther stated that the. Division of Marine and Fisheries does not ant� contr 1. <br /> The Attaquin Park Committee requested support from the Selectmen as they want to <br /> proceed further. <br /> Vernon Pcknett feels the high speed motore have stunted the growth of herring. <br /> Judy dills said that you are not seeing young fide coming -from the pond anymore. <br /> Selectmen suggested the Attaquin Park Committee contact someone in Sandwich and <br /> try to work with thea on this. <br /> Appointments & Hearings <br /> 7:40 — The Board was scheduled to meet with the Personnel Board and Department <br /> Meads to discuss the MMA Study. <br /> Members of' the Personnel Board were unable to attend. <br /> Chief Hartin spokesperson for the department Beads requested the Selectmen support <br />
