Personnel Board <br /> Minutes of September 19 , 1983 Page <br /> Manny asked if that were the case , would a level 3 call roan get <br /> priority on a call? <br /> The chief replied "no" . He said that one of the problems by do- <br /> ing it that way would be the time lag. He said that in order to <br /> have capability to respond, you need to have people moving to- <br /> wards the station . <br /> Dave asked if the exam wa's per any standard <br /> Chief Hartin said that he plans to utilize someone from the <br /> education community. <br /> Dave asked about the physical exam? <br /> The chief replied that he was looking at tasks and raking it <br /> comparative to civil service . He said that it would be more <br /> in line with what the job entails and in line with most of the <br /> standards based n Tuscon , Arizonas strength and agility test. <br /> Carrie asked if the test was exclusive to Mashee or if other <br /> towns administer it both locally and statewide . She asked if <br /> the chief was familiar with the fire science program at the <br /> college and if he had any communication with regard to construc- <br /> tion of the test . <br /> The chief replied that other people do this mentioning that Con- <br /> cord used a similar exam. He said that many local communities <br /> use a fire related exam which could be discriminatory to women. <br /> Chief Hartin said that with reference to the community college , <br /> their instructors in Fire ,science of fire service professionals <br /> have had some , little or no preparation of tests and some have <br /> had a lot . He commented that he has worked for the State as a <br /> firefighter coordinator and has prepared tests , <br /> Carrie asked what education level he would be requiring? <br /> The chief said that he would be looking in the high school area <br /> or possibly higher. <br /> Carrie asked what grade level would a person have to pass verbal <br /> section of the test-? <br /> Chief Hartin said that in order to pass reading comprehension and <br /> math segmentsf the test , an individual would have' had to complete <br /> high school . <br /> Carrie asked if the test would disqualify people ]used on the <br /> verbal section? <br />
