Interview <br /> e Board, along with the assistance of Selectwoman Thomas, interviewed Stephen Spina <br /> for the position of Natural Resource Officer. <br /> After the interview proces , the Board discussed the fact that the job de scr i-p ion was <br /> too loose. Selectwoman Thomas commented that if the Board wished to send their recom- <br /> mendations to the Board of Selectmen, she would respect that or if the Board decided to <br /> look at the job description and Make recommendations for revisions and then re-advertise, <br /> she would respect that. , Berg Lofchie moved that the Personnel Board review the Natural <br /> Resource officer job description and re--advertise again to get some people with the ex- <br /> perience that we are looping for. Carrie Saunders seconded the motion. Manny Glickman <br /> suggested taking out the Dog Officer portion of the requirements and requiring-the person <br /> to serve as a manager to the harbor master, etc. instead of a liaso . person. Bob Sullivan <br /> made reference to the qualification of a high school education suggesting .hat it be dis- <br /> cussed further. Selectwoman Thomas asked the Board to advertise in the conservation maga- <br /> zine in order~ to get better circulation. Caroline Gilligan asked if the harbor~ master~, <br /> shellfish constable and herring warden are aware that, they will have a boss. Jean Thomas <br /> replied that they are not aware that they would"automa ically have a bass as changes have <br /> to be made first mentioning that the herring warden is an elected position. <br /> Manuel Glickman asked if Jean Thomas felt that there were one or more applicants qualified <br /> in 'terms s of adequate experience to accomplish what demands of them and the rest of the <br /> learning process. Jean Thomas replied that two applicants have a tremendous amount of knowl- <br /> edge in the scientific Field that that she would be embarrassed for them to take over the <br /> position. <br /> 1 members were in favor, of reviewing the job description and re-advertising. <br /> Requests to Meet With Board <br /> The Public Works Director- requested a meeting with the Board to discuss the creation of new <br /> positions in his department --- one full-time clerk/receptionist/dispatcher/typist position; <br /> a truck driver position and a foreman position heavy equipment operator) . The Board asked <br /> that he be scheduled at their next meeting. <br /> The Board of Assessors also requested a meeting with the Board to discuss a new full time <br /> position in their department and assistance 'on the Sob description. They state that the <br /> position would be a professional type position; not clerical. The Board asked that the <br /> Board of -Assessors be scheduled at'.the next: meeting. <br /> Mento From Executive Secretary re : Physician <br /> The Board of Selectmen requests the Personnel Board to contact Dr. Silva, a new physician <br /> x <br /> in the Town of Mashpee, in order to specify what the town requires as part of the physical <br /> examination process. This request is in follow up to a letter dated. Oct. 10 from Dr. Silva <br /> to the Board of selectmen offering.his services to the town for yearly physical examinations. <br /> The Board-asked the secretary to follow through ,in sending Dr. Silva a list of the town re- <br /> quirements. <br /> Sick Bank <br /> Upon review the the Sick Bank clause in all torn contracts and the P.A.P. , Ben Lofchie asked <br /> Board why the P.A.P. has a volunteer sick bare stating that he does not feel that a <br /> lun eer sick bank is the best gray to go. The secretary commented that when the Board re- <br /> vised the P.A.P. and received the draft from the lawyer, the wording stated that sick bank <br /> was mandatory; however, it -was a concern of the Town Accountant that the wording be changed <br /> to volunteer which the Board agreed to do. Bob Sullivan agreed and said that if the wording <br /> were changed back, he did not feel the employees would vote for it to be mandatory. Ben <br /> Lofchie said that he would dray up some regulations for the Board to review as he just warted <br /> that one point clarified. <br />
