PERSONNEL BOARD MiNUTES <br /> MEETING of SEPTEMBER 5. 1996 <br /> PAGE 2 <br /> Liaison Sheet <br /> Upon review of the Personnel Board listing of liaisons for town departments the <br /> following changes were made: Chairman I univan will he liaison to the Board of <br /> Selectmen and Town Meeting; Ron Levine will add the Building Inspector <br /> Department and the Finance Committee to his list; Norma I uniin will pick up the <br /> Board of Assessors and Marcia Lindsey wdl include the D.P.W. and Animal Control <br /> on her list. When the vacancy on Board is filled, the new person will be responsible <br /> for Building Inspections, Conservation, Board of Health, Board of Assessors and the <br /> D.P.W. <br /> Articles for Town Meeting <br /> Board members were updated on the status of the Personnel Board's articles which <br /> are to be included on the warrant for Annual Town Meeting. The Board o <br /> Selectmen voted to 'Include the cost of living article for non-union employees on the <br /> Fall annual town meeting warrant. They also voted four to one to place the article o <br /> upgrading the position of Personnel Administrator on the warrant. The article <br /> requesting money for a computer for the department was removed from the warrant <br /> with the understanding that Bob W. will provide the department with a second <br /> computer. <br /> Network Administrator <br /> Norma K. updated the Board about the finalists for the position of Network <br /> Administrator. An interviewing panel consisting of Bob W., Joyce M., Carole D., <br /> Norma K. and Dave Bailey interviewed five candidates. Nonna said that the panel <br /> recommended: -- Thomas Walker and Steven Buss and thea was a third candidate: <br /> Theodore Peregrim. <br /> Discussion: In-Douse Postings <br /> With regard to posting positions internally, Carole D. indicated that employees should <br /> have the first chance in going to another department or position. They should have <br /> the opportunity to getter themselves and bid for a job as long as they are qualified. <br /> l onna K. commented that candidates should he qualified. She said that her <br /> preference would go to in-house people, however, s a Board member she would like <br /> to have a choice. Therefore, Norma said she would like to see positions advertised <br /> outside at the sane time as the in-house postings. Norma mach reference to filling a <br /> D.P.W. position where we had a qualified in-house candidate, but not as qualified as <br /> an outside applicant. <br />
