Board of Assessors - Articles for Annual Town Meeting. . The Board of Assessors has submitted four articles for approval tonight. Article (l) and Article 3 on the list deal with the raising and appropriation or ransferen e from available funds monies to be applied to the Board. of Assessors Re Account. Article l is for $lqv000*00e Article 3 is for $220,000.00. for the scheduled FY89 revaluations. Because of the large sum involved, Mr. Murphy suggested that the two articles be combined 'into one article and that "we seek 'own Meeting authority to borrow at this time the entire -' amount f . $239 ,o00, oo. -with-. ,the interest for the first year. This would give us a, discount of $4,2390,00. right away. Also, if i t appears that we are successful in certain areas Of appeal, we may be deferring this for one year and s o, in light of the Town's financial situation, it might be inadvisable to appropriate the monies for this year and not need it for another year" . It was unanimously agreed to follow this course of action. Article 2 on the list seeks ars amendment of the Personnel Adminis- tration Plan to change to salary grade of the Assistant Assessor-Data Collector to Assistant Assessor from Grade 8 to Grade 12. The Personnel Board has included this in�--its over-all Article on amendments to the Personnel Administration Plans It was unanimously agreed to have the Personnel Board and the Board of Assessors discuss this artzc le so as to prevent duplication. Article n. the list seeks to raise and appropriate or transfer from a.va* la.ble funds the sum of $11 ,055. to create a. clerical position under the supervision of the Board of Assessors or talo any other action there- to. Mr. Murphy noted that this sum does not 'Include so-called "benefit" expenses and should it be put on the warrant the sun should show a total expenditure for this position. Ir. Lawrence stated that he is against including this Article on the Warrant on the grounds that the Town should not be creating any new positions at this time . Mrs . Thomas abstained from comment at this time , ;. 9 Article for Annual- Town Meeting re * conversion o Assessors ' files , notices and en ineeringupdate . This Article was submitted for approval by th Board of Assessors , Town Clerk, and the Fire Department. It seeks the conversion of addresses to house numbers and activity relative thereto. Mra Murphy noted that no sum has been indicated for ars engineering update . Mr. Lawrence voted against putting this Article on the Warrant "as is". Mrs . Thomas concurred with that vote, The Article will be returned to the Departments involved for additional information before re-presenting it for approval, L_
