Board of Selectmen Page Two
• Regular ivleb
Wednesday,, February 25, 1987
act on it. You would act on it. . .the provisions of it in terms of
square footage and what-have-you. If you are allowing the additional
thirty days , the question I would have is thirty days from now or
thirty days from the time when it should have opened previously? That
expired on February 13. It's just a matter of semantics . . .when do you
want this thirty days to start'? Mrs . Thomas said, "Today" . Mr.
Lawrence said, "If we 're going to do it at all, I don't think the
difference between a week - eleven days - whatever it is , is an issue .
Selectwoman Thomas moved that South Cape Liquors be permitted to stay
closed an additional thirty days commencing this date. Mr. Lawrence
seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous .
2. Conservation Commission re : Articles for Annual Town
Meeting. The Executive Secretary noted that these articles were on
the agenda for last week's regular meeting and were deferred to this
week. Ms . Behrman, Chairman of the ConCom, has submitted a memorandum
relative to these articles and she stated, "That memo basically sums
up a lot of facts and figures that we talked about last week. Esti-
mated prices are from Tom Fudala. The memo also mentions potential
sources for funding. " Ms . Behrman reviewed the background of these
articles . After discussion.. of the articles for the purchase of parcels
of land as possible future well-sites and as conservation land, Mr.
Lawrence reiterated his stand on non-support of land for conservation
purposes for this year primarily because of the financial situation of
the Town. Mrs . Thomas ' s position for support is that , in her opinion,
• a potential well-site cannot be by-passed. Mr. Hanson stated that he
will support these articles for the reason that they may be potential
water sources . The vote to include these articles on the Warrant for
Annual Town Meeting was 2-1. Regarding the proposed article to. raise
and appropriate or transfer from available funds $69 ,000, to be used
to obtain appraisals of lands proposed for acquisition for conservation
purposes , the vote was 2-1 not to include this article in the Warrant.
3.
