Mr. Murphy explained that <br /> la.spee has , for the past four years , purcas e polic e cruisers from <br /> the Greater Boston Police Council through the City of Newton as this <br /> is the most cost efficient way of providing cruisers . Newton is <br /> requiring a. Hold Harmless and Indemnification Agreement. Mrs . Thomas <br /> moved that the Chairman of the Board of Selectmen be authorized to <br /> execute this Agreement with the City of Newton, lir. Lawrence seconded <br /> the motion. The vote was unanimous . Mr. Hanson executed the Agreement o <br /> 2, Appointment of Civil Defense i ,e er. Eugene I a rr, <br /> Deputy Civil Defense Director,- and Leo Turo , resident of the Town of <br /> Mashpee , submitted letters of interest in the position of Civil Defense <br /> Director. Selectman Lawrence moved the appointment of Eugene Na.rr as <br /> Civil Defense Director, Mrs. Thomas seconded the motion. The vote was <br /> unanimous , <br /> 3 . District Tax. The Executive Secretary noted in his <br /> memorandum of February 26, 1987 that the Assessors and the Treasurer <br /> have estimated a. need of $15,000. to modify their files for F <br /> should the water district, tae formed in its present configuration. <br /> It was unanimously agreed to insert anarticle to this affect on the <br /> Warrant for Annual Town Meeting. <br /> 4. Charles Petersen re : complaint of waterfront properly <br /> dam e . Ir. Petersen who owns waterfront property at 298 Hoop ole <br /> Road stated in his letter of February 22 , 1987 that severe damage has <br /> occurred due to high water and freezing weather conditions . Mr. Narr <br /> stated that the problem is severe and requested that the Non's Pond <br /> Park Committee give input on the ratter. Mr. Virgilio said that an <br /> effective system of water-level control had been reached with bog <br /> operations and that the problem now is <br /> primarily the result of vandalism, <br /> He further stator that the situation is monitored constantly,,and state <br /> guidelines are being followed. Mr. Na.rr and Mr. Virgilio will work <br /> together to address this situation especially regarding improved communi- <br /> cations . <br /> 5. Selectmen's Accounts . Mr. Murphy called attention to <br /> his memorandum of February 27, 198' in which it is noted that there is <br /> a. projected deficit of $95,000, in the Legal and Engineering Account <br /> and that there will not be sufficient monies in the Advertising Account <br /> to accommodate advertising for Annual Town Meeting or Special Town <br /> i <br /> 1 <br /> ri~ <br />
