Chairman Hanson.son closed <br /> the hearing at 7:45 P. M. S e l c twoman Thomas moved to adopt the amend- <br /> ments to the Shellfish Regulations as presented, Mrs awrer ce seconded <br /> the motion which was unanimously carried . <br /> . Herring.,._ .:r.�.. The Shellfish Constable and the Director <br /> of the Department of Public Works expressed their concern that runs , <br /> rivers , streams , flumes and ocean; fronts are n desperate need of <br /> cleaning out.. They look to coordinate a project together utilizing <br /> volunteers and offering compensation for sundry iters used by the <br /> helpers such as gas , etc. Compensation would be forthcoming from the <br /> Herring Warden Expense Account . Mr. Virgilio said that the Conservation <br /> Officer is in favor of this proposed project. Mr. Virgilio noted that <br /> the Herring Warden, some years ago, used monies- from this account to pay <br /> for some help, and that more assistance would no doubt be available if <br /> payment were proffered* Board members unanimously agreed that the money <br /> available in the Herring Warden Expense Account is to be used tO maintain <br /> the herring runs , fur her that hiring people for this project brings up <br /> the question of liability for accident or personal 'Injury or property <br /> damage a Board members unanimously agreed that a volunteer-effort project <br /> was most worthwhile with re-imbursement being made for sundry items , <br /> 5. Installation of regulator s� and si als n Town- <br /> _ __ <br /> ownedways . Referring to written communication from the om issioner <br /> of the Commonwealth Department of Public Works dated March 9 . 1987 , <br /> the Chief of Police and the Director of Iashpee Department of Public <br /> Tors were presentto discuss the adoption of n parking zones and <br /> other regulatory signs throughout on Town-owned roads . lir. Virgilio <br /> noted the increasing prevalence of vehicles being parked partially on <br /> the shoulder and on the pared surface of numerous roads particularly <br /> in areas of construction and he stated that this situation is causing <br /> hazardous road conditions in some areas . He is requesting permission <br /> to install no parking zones with towing of vehicles for violators . The <br /> Board members unanimously agreed that more information is needed , in <br /> particular in regard to the logistics of enforcement, <br /> 6# Department of Publ' c Works signs at new boat raxr <br /> The Director explained the access road design to the new boat rare <br /> and the need for "no parking" signs in that area and the need for <br /> signs showing the required direction of vehicular traffic , Mr. Virgilio <br /> will submit a Ian of e o g <br /> p each boat ramp showing the proposed use of signs <br /> for the perusal of the Board . <br />
