Thomas asked ed i f they are shooting for all this to be <br /> into gear by March 1 . Mr . Orlando said that is right. They <br /> are' not looking for the work to be done until the waterpipes <br /> are i n# He said he also wanted to see it easy for everyone <br /> else i n Mashpee to have something to go by who has the same <br /> problem. <br /> e l . Carter advised Mr. Orlando to get in touch with Tori <br /> Fudula and get on the Planning Board's agenda and to stay in <br /> touch with Joe in regards to Ernie going out to evaluate it . <br /> The second issue Mr . Orlando discussed with the Board was <br /> dealing with military toxics and his concern relative to the <br /> water system. He said that they allowed Ron Watson to come <br /> in and put in test wells. The test wells show that there i <br /> some pollution . The Federal Government says it is not really <br /> bad enough to hurt them but they are willing to negotiate <br /> with the town. !fir, Orlando said that the negotiation process <br /> is held on the base , they have all the experts and they have <br /> all the money. He said that his concern is that Briarwood <br /> does not have any input and they do not have anything to <br /> stand on as far as a test result on their part . <br /> el . Thomas pointed out that the County Health Department has <br /> taken samples. 'Ir . Orlando said that the problem is that <br /> they have contaminants in the ground and all they are asking <br /> is that they give them clean water. He said that they do not <br /> want any money. <br /> e l . Thomas said since they designated the Board members they <br /> have not met as a negotiating team. Bel . Carter said that he <br /> thought it would come down to some kind of an expert on the <br /> negotiating team# He said that it would be an issue they <br /> would address when they do meet . <br /> Mr . Orlando said that he did not think there should be any <br /> settlement ; it should be all or nothing. He said that they <br /> should stand up strongly to thea and insist , <br /> el . gotl e i b commented that they are intending to go in there <br /> and seek full recovery on their behalf and the town's behalf. <br /> He said that they have a goad strong case based on the infor- <br /> mation <br /> nfor-- <br /> matian at hand in coming out with a settlement which should <br /> be satisfactory, <br />
