Carter asked <br /> Wendy to explain how a soccer program could run on its own for this <br /> year . <br /> Wendy aid that if there were going to be a soccer program this year , <br /> it would have to run on its own. It would be handled through the <br /> sane procedure which they have set up for all youth sports to use <br /> their faci l i ties. It would entail filling out indemnification and <br /> release forks to waive the town for any l i ai l i t . The other <br /> requirement is that they would provide coach training. She said that <br /> the reason soccer remained a town-sponsored program, unlike a the <br /> l i ttl a league program, was the insurance and liabilityproblems and <br /> the high costs. They have set up booster programs for fund raising <br /> to help purchase soccer nets. The uniforms are covered by the <br /> registration fees. She said that the program could run; it is just a <br /> matter of getting it together . Wendy commented that she has not been <br /> contacted by anybody offering to run a program, Sel . Carter said <br /> that there is a strong interest and asked if she could meet with the <br /> delegation and assist thea in any manner possible . Wendy replied <br /> that should would. <br /> Mr . Alan Towne commented that he was contacted by some parents <br /> regarding the soccer programs. He explained how the program was run <br /> last year . He said that they basically ran the league by themselves <br /> except for the liabilityituation . He abed if they have to get <br /> 1 i abi l i t insurance. Sel . Carter replied "Yes." He asked if the <br /> youths of Mashpee have the right to use the field over everybody <br /> else? Se l . Carter replied "Yes" . Mr . Towne said that they will step <br /> forward to help run the program and do as much as they can . Sel . <br /> Garter said that it is an important program to get underway as he <br /> thinks that the school is doing away with their fall and spring <br /> programs. Sel . Thomas said that they should get their schedules <br /> together . <br /> e l . Hanson said that according to Wendy's recommendations to the <br /> Board, it says that there - i l l be no fal l , hinter or spring programs <br /> for youths or adults. He asked what other programs they were talking <br /> about . Wendy said that there was men's basketball , school vacation <br /> week programs, etc el . Manson asked who handled the programs <br /> before the Program Director care aboard? Wendy said that she handled <br /> whatever programs she could operate herself which were youth sports <br /> and special events in the summertime , volleyball and men's <br /> basketball . <br /> Wendy commented that the townspeople requested a Program Director , <br /> voted the salary and money in and the position# It was highly <br /> recommended and the Personnel Board was in favor of i t. There is no <br /> question that the town needs it.
