Caney met with the Selectmen to discuss <br /> Ms. Rhonda Machado' s application for a permit to operate a. taxi <br /> cab business at 680 Falmouth Road in Mashpee, <br /> Ms. Machado has been a resident of Mashpee for five years and <br /> is experienced with the taxi cab business. she would like a permit <br /> to operate a regular taxi station wagon and a. van to taxi handicap <br /> residents. The vehicles are new and registered and insured. <br /> Ms. Machado would like to operate the business from 6: 00 a.m. <br /> to 1; 30 a.m. seven days a week. Her fee to be charged will be $1950 <br /> for the first 2/10th of a mile and 20 .for each additional 1/10th of <br /> a mile with a. $15. 00 .per hour fee for waiting time' . <br /> Ir. Harrington reports the application is in order and a. check <br /> for o is due payable to the town of lashe e. Mr. Canney offered to <br /> pay the required fee and thought it was paid in November to the Building <br /> Dep a.rtm e t. Mr. Harrington will check on this issue of payment, <br /> Selectman Gottlieb rade the motion to grant the permit for lis. <br /> Machado to operate a taxi cab business in l a.shpee conditioned on- the <br /> reci e t of the application fee. <br /> ��. Selectman Jacobson seconded the motion. The Board votes in <br /> unanimous decision to approve the permit, The vote is 5-o. <br /> 7: 20 p.m. Water District; <br /> Attorney William Henchy was present to request the Board of <br /> Selectmen to place a, referendum question on the annual election ballot <br /> to determine whether or not the Ma.shpee Water District should include <br /> all land within the Town of Mashpee. <br /> The Water District is in negotiations to buy Highwood Water Co. <br /> Currently, the District cannot serve areas with Highwood Water. since <br /> many residents have paid a. betterment fee and a connection fee due to <br /> contaminated water, Dr. Petti questions whether the residents will be <br /> taxed again. she is assured the residents would not be taxed again. <br /> The only difference would be in the taxes and the water consumed. <br /> . Selectman Hanson suggests the Board hold this issue under advise- <br /> ment for one week since they have just reo <br />
