BOARD OF SELECTMEN Page 2 <br /> MINUTES <br /> MONDAY, MARCH 25: 1991 <br /> Southport: <br /> Approximately 80% of the work is completed on Southport. There <br /> is no further comment from the Board to this concern* <br /> The Selectmen will wait for further indication of the completion <br /> f the project and land transfer. <br /> Resignation of is atc K!�xne Woodward: <br /> Mr. Woodward has requested a leave of absence from his position <br /> opposed to his resignation. Selectman Gottlieb is concerned with the <br /> six week leave of absence of fir. Woodward and the time to hire an <br /> additional dispatcher if he does not return. <br /> Kevin Harrington stated it would take approximately 3-4 weeks t <br /> fill this position, He questions if the Board has granted a. leave of <br /> absence in the past? The Board of Selectmen have the power to approve <br /> any length of time, <br /> Selectman Manson feels this may set precedence for other town <br /> employees. Selectman Jacobson would like the longevity of his absence <br /> to be 30 days rather than 6 weeks. <br /> Selectman Lawrence has suggested the Board accept Mr. Woodward' <br /> letter of resignation period* He has changed his mind after the letter <br /> of resignation with the reason being it may be necessary for him to <br /> relocates <br /> The circumstances involve possible mitigation states Chairman <br /> Carter. This is a family oriented reason. If Mr. Woodward returns <br /> to l a hpee it would benefit rather than hinder with the training of <br /> new employee. <br /> Selectman Gottlieb feels it is too risky with difficult tires <br /> and concerns f the past of dispatching., <br /> The motion was rade by Selectman Lawrence to accept the resignation <br /> of Wayne Woodward& The motion was seconded by Selectman Gottlieb, <br /> I <br /> The vote is favorable 3-2 with Selectman Carter and Selectman Jacobson <br /> in opposition <br /> Position Vacancy Request: <br /> I <br /> The DPYJ has requested the mechanic position be filled immediately. <br /> The position is vacant since Mr. Me erios has left for active duty. <br /> Mr. Harrington has talked with the family and they are unsure as to <br /> the date of his return. <br /> Kevin Harrington has suggested this position be filled on an <br /> interim basis through spring and the busy season. Mr. Meder•ios will <br /> be offered this position when he returns. The town is currently <br /> extending the medical benefits to the family of Mr. Mederios. There <br /> is funding for this position, <br /> The motion was made by Selectman' Jacobson to advertise for this <br /> position on an interim basis. The motion was seconded by Selectman <br /> Gottlieb. The vote of the Board is unanimous, <br /> L- <br />
