BOARD OF SELECTLM1.1 Page 7 <br /> MINUTES <br /> MONDAY, AUGUST 5, 1991 <br /> • Base Clean-u2- <br /> We are not members to take a vote informs Mr. Fiorentini. We <br /> are guests. The letter stated Elias McQuaid or any other member <br /> of the Ylashpee Board of Health is invited to sit in at a meeting. <br /> There is no voting, just questhns during this time. <br /> It was suggested for one member from the Board of Selectmen <br /> from surrounding towns accompany the Association for Base Clean-up <br /> to Boston. The Board is interested and would like to obtain the <br /> input from the surrounding towns as to their representation. <br /> Selectman Jacobson also noted the Cape Cod Commission will have <br /> a representative from the five Upper Cape town' s. They may also want <br /> to take a role in this action. <br /> Many residents are concerned with the shallow water testing of <br /> the ponds being not accurate testing. Mr. McQuaid informed the <br /> residents that shallow and deep water testing is being done. To date <br /> there are no volitile chemicals in John' s Pond, Mashpee%dakeby or <br /> Ashumet Ponds. <br /> The water is tested at 100' , 60' and recently at the Board' s <br /> request. The test was clean. The VOC testing is done monthly. <br /> Selectman Caffyn made note the well testing can be done by the <br /> Department of Health for the fee of $45. 00. This should be publicized. <br /> • The Guard has taken responsibility to pay for this testing. <br /> The VOC ' s are the most comprehensive indicator states Mr. Gree lish. <br /> He is confident it is safe to swim in the ponds. All our water is <br /> safe to swim and use. <br /> 9:05 p.m. OLD BUSINESS: <br /> Memo Relative to Uniform Services Bid: <br /> The motion was made by Selectman Lawrence to recind the bid <br /> from Aratex services and the two year period. The bid specifications <br /> were for a one year period. The motion was made by Selectman Lawrence <br /> to accept Acme Apparelmaster as the low bidder for Uniform Services. <br /> The motion was seconded by Selectman Jacobson. The vote oftthe <br /> Board is uanimous. The vote is 4-0. <br /> Fees for the Flea Market: <br /> Selectman Caffyn asks if we have.141heard from the Attorney General? <br /> She was informed by Selectman Jacobson not at this point. The process <br /> normally takes 120ndays. Jane LaBute will notify the Office at that <br /> time. <br /> 9: 08 p.m. Board of Assessors re: Overlay: <br /> The Board of Assessors and David Bailey were present for the <br /> disassion with the Board. Selectman Gottlieb asks for a sense of the <br /> potential outcome of the deficit and estimate of range of future <br /> • liability for judgement of outcome. <br /> Mr. Harrington informed the Board he has met with Mr. Bailey, <br /> the Town Accountant, Treasurer and Jim Vaccaro to discuss the lack <br /> of overlay money. It is known to be approximately $220, 000 with most <br /> ATB ,cases completed. The Assessors arernow reviewing the 91 abatement <br /> applications. <br />
