The Board of Selectmen shall order a special election to be held not less than 35 and. no more than 65 days after receipt of notice from the Town Clerk. What we have received tonight informs selectman Jacobson is the notice in writing from the Town Clerk. The recall petition is not the Board ofSelectmen ' s petition states counsel . The petition is from the citizens in. Town. He notes the Board of selectmen have not directed hire as a Beard to render an opinion. Selectman caffyn noted she had asked Selectman Jacobson to speak-,with Attorney Reardon today. This is the obligation of the Board of Selectmen. It has nothing to do with the people, petition or Town Clerk. It has to do with our action. This is not political * Nothing is clear cut infront of us . Selectman Hanson agrees . The re-sponsibility of the Board of selectmen is to set a date for the recall election. There is a closing statement on his recall . There is no clarification from the Town Olen as to where Mr, Benway and Mr. Lawrence stand . In his opinion, it is not ready to be rade . If upon reviewing that we should of taken action, there will be another cost involved. selectman Caffyn would like the motion clearly written. Town counsel noted the recall election date set for December the 19th is for the recall of Willard Hanson, The entire process is in the hands of the Town Clerk with the exception of the admin- istration by the Board of selectmen. This is initiated by private petition, The Board of Selectmen should have no further involve- ment . As Selectman Jacobson- recalled, the motion was to set a date for the recall election of Willard Hanson on Thursday, Dec- ember 1 , 1991 . If we feel we should go back and make another Motion we will , you don ' t have to informs counsel , -The motion can be modified . Selectman Jacobson asked for a motion from the Board to make sure the first motion was clear. The motion was made by selectman caffyn to set the date of a special recall election on Thursday, December 1 , 1391 for the recall of Willard Danson. The motion was seconded by Selectman Jacobson. The vote is favorable -O . selectman Hanson has abstain- ed from voting on this issue. The motion was made by Selectman caffyn to set a date of a special election of recall for Peter Lawrence on Thursday, Dec- ember 19, 1991 conditional on the written decision of the Town Clerk, Mrs . Jane Labute, of Mashee as to the validity of the election. The motion .wars seconded by selectman Jacobson. The vote is -2 . - selectman Lawrence and Selectman Danson are in opposition. There is no action taken on this vote informs the Chairman of the Board.
