Shellfish Constable Interviews : <br /> Richard York was present to discuss his application for <br /> Shellfish Constable, He in i.oa es that he grew up in Cataument <br /> and is familiar with some of Mashpee ' s waters. <br /> Mr. York has studied the waters of Waquoit Bay <br /> scientifically and is interested in the seeding of scallops. He <br /> has background round expertise to monitor for microscopic algae and can <br /> easily survey the waters to find out what food is present . <br /> Mr, York is currently working as a consultant , some his <br /> most recent work was in Hawaii working4wi h shellfish. He does <br /> not have much experience with enforcement , but would uphold <br /> shellfish regulations , He indicates if there is an offender, a <br /> warning would be issue-d, If ,offense is repeated , a fine would <br /> then be issued . He relates that he has no problem working with <br /> people and would be able to commit to the position in two weeks . <br /> Joseph Giarrusso indicated that he has a degree in <br /> Environmental Biology. His background includes enforc men , <br /> propagation and aquaculture including wetland regulations , <br /> Mr, Giarrusso relates that he is familiar with Mashpee ' s <br /> waters from a recreational standpoint . He is willing to relocate <br /> his residence from North Andover to South Yarmouth and could <br /> begin the job in approximately two weeks . <br /> Further experience is. working with the shellfish and <br /> Conservation Commissions and other town hoards . He is willing to <br /> attend evening meetings if his expertise is required* <br /> Steven Boyd is currently working as a consultant on a part- <br /> time basis . He holds a Masters degree in Marine Biology and a <br /> Bachelor of Science Degree in Marine sciences . <br /> His work as a consultant has involved shellfish surveys in <br /> Mashpee. He would life to try some of his academic applications <br /> o the position. <br /> Mr. Boyd doe-s not has previous experience in law <br /> enforcement. Fie_ has worked with Paul Somerville and knows <br /> Mashpee and priorities in propagation. Mr . Boyd is available for <br /> the position in two to three weeks upon notice. He is willing to <br /> cooperate with the Harbormaster and Conservation Commission and <br /> attend evening meetings . <br /> Ben Gordon has urged the Board to select the recommendation <br /> of the committee ' s involved in the interview process. He <br /> indicates the interview process was quite thorough and the <br /> Personnel Board made ars excellent recommendation. <br /> In the future, the Selectmen should sit in on the interview <br /> process indicates selectman Caffyn. <br /> Selectman Vaccaro relates that the Board appreciae ' s the <br /> screening the committee did . Because the decision was unanimous, <br /> it doesn ' t mean we will vote on it. The final decision is rade <br /> by the Board of Selectmen. <br />
