BOARD OF SELECTMEN Page 8 <br /> MINUTES <br /> • MONDAY, APRIL 27, 1992 <br /> EXECUTIVE SECRETARY WEEKLY REPORT: <br /> A meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 29, 1992 at 3 : 30 <br /> p.m. at the Middle School to introduce the Pilgrim Health Care <br /> option to school employee ' s. <br /> All other employee ' s will be able to hear the presentation <br /> on Thursday, April 30, 1992 at 4: 00 p.m. in the Town Hall . All <br /> employee ' s have been notified reports Kevin Harrington. <br /> The Selectmen have to determine who is going to make the <br /> motion for Town Meeting articles . <br /> A letter was received from the Department of the Army <br /> relating to Popponesset spit . In addition to Mr. Harringtin ' s <br /> report, the Board is in agreement to invite the Department of the <br /> Army to a meeting with the Board . <br /> The Water Way ' s and Conservation Commission will be invited <br /> to , attend the discussion. <br /> Mr. Harrington gave copies to the Board of a letter in <br /> regards to his employment . He has asked the Board to accept his <br /> resignation on Friday, May 1, 1992 . He has the opportunity to <br /> begin another position. <br /> • COMMUNICATION AND CORRESPONDENCE: <br /> None at this time. <br /> OLD BUSINESS : <br /> Senior Center Addition: <br /> Mr. Harrington has talked with Town Counsel and it is <br /> recommended to still pursue the bid bond with LJH. The available <br /> funds for the Senior Center Addition is $256 , 900. <br /> There are some alternatives in the bid we may have to <br /> eliminate informs Mr. Harrington. Selectman Mills notes that <br /> with pursing the bid bond we may be able to recoup funds. <br /> Counsel advises that we may end up in litigation. <br /> Vidal Construction remains interested in the contract . His <br /> bid price is effective though May 6 , 1992 . <br /> ****The motion was made by Selectman Mills to rescind the award <br /> of the bid to LJH Contracting Co. , Inc. and the execution of the <br /> contract with LJH for the stated reason that they are in default <br /> and will not go forward with the work in accordance with their <br /> bid . The motion was seconded by Selectman Caffyn. VOTE: <br /> Unanimous . 470 . <br /> • <br />
