BOARD OF SELECTMEN Page 6 <br /> MINUTES <br /> MONDAY MAY 11 , 1992 <br /> 8 :43 p.m. Arts Council re: Fireworks/Concert : <br /> William Zammer in representation of the Chamber and John <br /> Ferguson, President of the Mashpee Arts Coucil were present for <br /> the discussion. <br /> The intent is to bring the Symphony back to Mashpee. The <br /> scheduled date is August 1 , 1992 at 7 : 00 p.m. in Mashpee Commons. <br /> Other sites were viewed . The Commons was chosen to be the best <br /> location. Fireworks are scheduled to begin at dark between 9- <br /> 9: 30 p.m. <br /> The two committee ' s are meeting weekly and are in request of <br /> donations of time and money to support the event that is deemed a <br /> family night . <br /> The anticipated cost of the event is $25 , 000-30 ,000 informs <br /> Mr. Ferguson. This includes the tent, tables , lighting, <br /> fireworks and Symphony fees . <br /> Request is made for consideration to provide Police and Fire <br /> protection as a donation by the Town to the citizens for this <br /> community affair. Last year the approximate cost was $2500. <br /> Town Counsel relates that if the funds are available within <br /> the departments , the Board can authorize the service. <br /> *Selectman Caffyn indicated the Board will give this some <br /> consideration. The budget of the Police and Fire Department will <br /> be reviewed as well as the possibility of volunteers for the <br /> event . <br /> 8 : 50 p.m. Selectman Caffyn called for a five minute recess to <br /> return to the Selectmen ' s Conference Room to conduct the <br /> remainder of the business scheduled on tonight ' s agenda . <br /> 9 :00 p.m. COMMUNICATION AND CORRESPONDENCE : <br /> Selectman Jacobson gave thanks on behalf of the Board for <br /> the support of the school addition. Bill Jones and Peter Dinizio <br /> have made a valuable contribution to the Town. <br /> A meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 12 , 1992 at <br /> 9 :00 a .m. with the Department Heads. <br /> OLD BUSINESS : <br /> Senior Center Addition: <br /> Mrs. Mason indicates the amendments of the contract have <br /> been sent via fax to Attorney Reardon ' s office for review. Town <br /> Counsel indicates he will review the amendments and return to the <br /> Board as soon as possible to commence construction. Vidal <br /> Construction of East Falmouth is the contractor for the Senior <br /> Center addition. <br /> i <br />
