No action is required. ( Enclosure)
Communication from Farley Outdoor Education Center re :
Security of Property:
Mr. Taylor related that he met with a representative from
Farley on April 24, 1992 . The Center is concerned with the
security at the camp. Over the winter there has been vandalism.
The Camp has an ongoing concern with the safety of campers and
control of people who use the property .
Selectman Mills indicates that it is an access to
Mashpee/Wakeby Pond and deemed an ancient way. There are options
to gate the area without blocking Bakers Road .
Town Counsel relates that if the road is a public way, the
people have the right to use it . The Selectmen are in control .
Selectman Costa recommends to contact the Town Planner
relative to this concern. He suggests the Fire , Police , DPW and
Conservation Commission meet to determine a better procedure as
to rights of access .
George Baker informed the Board that the Fire Department is
not opposed to a gate. They wish to obtain a key and suggests
that Farley install a wall safe key in the fence or switch to a
master padlock system for easy access in the event of an
emergency.
Selectman Mills suggests to check the area to determine if
the roads are ancient ways .
Acceptance of Beach Concession Stand :
*It is the agreement of the Board to hold the acceptance of
the Beach Consession Stand at this time.
