.t <br /> 5 <br /> 5 <br /> BOARD of SELECTMEN Page <br /> MINUTES <br /> MONDAY, AUGUST 3 ■ 1992 <br /> Middleton O 'Malley-Keyes re: Snug Harbor Com lex; <br /> On behalf of SeconsettIsland residents , Middleton O 'Malley- <br /> Keyes was present to ask the Board ' s support to terminate a <br /> condition that has seriously impacted their lives . <br /> The complex of rental units known as Snug Harbor inhabits <br /> occupants with behavior beyond comprehension indicates <br /> Mr. O 'Malley-Keyes, There has been manor incidents of assault , <br /> theft , trespassing and violence at every level . <br /> recent occurrence was the needless death of an 18 year old <br /> young man informs Mr. O 'Malley-Keyes, He indicates that <br /> residents have tried to work with owners and Police to rectify <br /> the problem, but have failed. <br /> Mr. 'Mauler Keyes - read his letter to the Selectmen for the <br /> purpose of record dated July 30 , 1992 . <br /> Selectman Jacobson indicated her concern to aid in relieving. <br /> the situation, She feels strongly that there is no need for <br /> anyone to have to live in this manner. <br /> Selectman Jacobson read the letter from Chief Frere in <br /> response to the Seconesett Island complaint. In addition to <br /> enforcement, he has proposed to schedule -a meeting with concerned <br /> citizens to rectify the problem. <br /> Selectman Mills and Selectman costa have offered to attend <br /> the meeting with concerned residents and Police. <br /> Mr. O 'Malley-Keyes has asked for continued dialogue €i t Yee <br /> Selectmen to carry this through to a resolution. <br /> Selectman Vaccaro is in agreement and recommends to schedule <br /> this on the agenda for further discussion and recommendation of a <br /> long range solution to the problem. <br /> 8 : 15 p.m, Fire Chief <br /> Chief Ridgeway read his memo dated August 3e 1992 regarding <br /> Recognition and Commendation of Town Employees . <br /> Residential SprinklerSystems : A recent tragedy prompted <br /> Chief Ridgeway and Deputy Baker to emphasize the value of residential <br /> sprinkler systems . <br /> Tom was scheduled with legislators including Tocahir <br /> to begin the process of passing future le g; =dation to allow cities <br /> and towns to adopt local ordinances to mandate residential sprinkler <br /> systems for all newly constructed homes informs Chief Ridgeway& <br />
