i <br /> Y <br /> 1 <br /> BOARD Y SELECTMEN Page <br /> MINUTES <br /> MONDAY, AUGUST-3t 1992 <br /> Fire chief: <br /> Residential Sprinkler systems : A residential sprinkler <br /> system installed in, a new cape style hone would cost <br /> approximately $2000 informs chief Ridgeway, The es-timated cost <br /> i $1. 25 -- 1 . 50 per square foot . <br /> Chief Ridgeway indicates that he would like to see this <br /> included in Mashpee ' s growth plan . He relates that % of people <br /> - that die in fires , die in their own homes . <br /> Deputy Baler and Chief Ridgeway ask the Board ' s support <br /> o the proposed mandate for residential- sprinkler systems to be <br /> installed in all newly constructed homes . <br /> Chief Ridgeway left the information for the selectmen to <br /> review. This is taken under advisement at this time. <br /> Civil Defense Director Position: Chief Ridgeway indicates <br /> that he is willing to work in this position as outlined. Deputy <br /> Baer has also offered his services.. <br /> chief Ridgeway recommends to include a comprehensive plan to <br /> be updated as the law mandates ,. This should also be practiced <br /> 1-2 times per year.. <br /> Deputy Barer indicates that under the state statute, it is <br /> the initiative of the town as to how they want to establish a <br /> civil defense plan. He notes that many people in town are <br /> i interested in Yielpin 'one person is needed o serve in <br /> management capacity to disperse information. <br /> Most towns have an emergency management planner informs <br /> Deputy- Baker. He relates that a number of people could be within <br /> a unified plan of coordination. <br /> Chief sideway indicates- that it is the intent to focus <br /> under one comprehensive ive mana ement system, It is up to the <br /> community to say what they want from the committee... <br /> Selectman dills recommends to obitain ' a description of the <br /> Director of Civil Defense and Emergency Management composition of <br /> the Planning Committee, It is important to have a job <br /> description so the position is clearly understood. <br /> Selectman Jacobson has volunteered her services to be a <br /> representative. Robert Whritenour will be included . A meeting <br /> will be scheduled after information ha s been received as <br /> requested by Selectman Mills. <br />
