The Selectmen should of attended the <br /> trial for at least two days. <br /> Betty Peters asked why Chief Frye did not attend the trial <br /> Chief Frye indicated that he honestly did not know when the <br /> trial was , He states that he was not legally informed by a <br /> .letter or subpoena , He motes that he was on vacation. <br /> Fancy Black indicates that this is a consideration of the <br /> peoples feelings at this time . This was poor judgement on the <br /> Selectmen for not attending the trial , she asks why the Board <br /> was not up on this or informed of this <br /> Selectman Caffyn indicates the Board was not aware of the <br /> trial . The selectmen were never asked about the settlement , The <br /> issue seems to he as to why we weren ' t there. <br /> Shirley Peters relates. that this is a disregard of facts and <br /> evidence . The Selectmen should read the transcripts * she notes <br /> that she has -read them and concludes the judge ' s decision was <br /> outrageous . The judge ignored the evidence and testimony of <br /> witnesses to reach the conclusion, <br /> We are angr'y because jus-tice was not served indicates <br /> Shirley Peters. The inquest was twisted . Most of the witnesses <br /> felt cheated. We feel sergeant Mace is not deliberately a <br /> murderer. He is emotionally unstable and should not be a <br /> policemanb <br /> i Russell Peters, Jr, indicates that they have been snowed i <br /> this issue, He asks as to what is going to happen? What is the <br /> Town going to o We don 't wart this man walking around with a <br /> gun, <br /> Attorney Randall responds that the legal history is complex <br /> with a difficult array of decisior& A decision was rendered at <br /> the inquest conclusion. The final legal decision regulates what <br /> can be done after the fact of the proceedings . <br /> The payment by the insurance company has absolved any <br /> liability of all parties. When the insurance company took over, <br /> it had the sole dower to settle or not to settle informs Attorney <br /> Randall * Done of the parties , myself or the Board of Selectmen <br /> were consulted. <br />
