She informed a report was supposed to be <br />submitted to The Board last week to date has not been received* <br />The Board had previous-ly reviewed' a draft and made. revisions, A <br />special Town Meeting may have to be scheduled. Mr. Whritenour <br />informed a lengthy letter has been seat relative to a joint <br />meeting with the School Committee. <br />School De artment -- -Clerk of The Works. <br />6RA,, <br />Mr, Whritenour iaf-or-med the contract has been sent to Town <br />Counsel for opinion, Selectman vaccaro i4;�e -med the opinion has <br />just today been received. �. <br />Letter from Attorney' Aver and Collins for Discussion. <br />Chairman Caf fyn read aloud certain sections of the lengthy <br />letter regarding Dischar a Proceedings, Sgt. David dace. The <br />attorneys state they continue to be of the opinion that the Town <br />of 'Mashpee should vigorously pursue disciplinary action; they <br />have found nothing in recent developments to undermine their <br />view. The letter drafts a documentation and systematic <br />commentary, and the attorneys believe the letter should be <br />released in order to reinforce public confidence in the <br />Selectmen's decision to pursue disciplinary proceedings against <br />Sgt , Mace, <br />Selectman Costa stated he assumes The Selectmen will <br />continue to move forward in this matter without change, He <br />distributed copies of his press release dated February 2, 1993; <br />he made a statement to The Board the entire context of his press <br />release). He requested Mr. Whritenour not to distribute to him <br />(his box) any further correspondence about this matter, and he <br />stated he will step aside from any future discussions relative to <br />this issue. - <br />Chairman C f fyn med she has no further comments and <br />expressed opinion the attorneys', letter should be released. <br />Selectman v ccaro expressed disappointment Mr. Costa will <br />not be participating, even though he is in disagreement, which is <br />his right, Selectman Costa explained his minority vote does not <br />concern him. He feels uncomfortable being involved with <br />strategies of attorneys, and he does not wish to repeat his <br />opinion "time and again", He feels it is in his best interest to <br />concentrate on other issues and let the process takes its course. <br />Many statements he made are incorporated in executive sessions, <br />
