BOARD OF SELECTMEN Page <br />MINUTES <br />MONDA, MARCH 11 1993 <br />NEW BUSINESS: <br />Notice from the DeRartment of Fisheries _ and Wildlife: <br />Notice was received from the Department of Fisheries, <br />Wildlife and Environmental Law Enforcement -dated February 1 , <br />1993 relative to a proposal considering acquisition of land <br />within Mashpee. <br />Mr. Whritenour indicated that the property would be acquired <br />for conservation and -recreational purposes. The land is <br />currently under private ownership and being utilized for the <br />purpose of open land. Included for review was a snap of the <br />proposed land acquisition. <br />DPW Director re: Road Management: <br />*The motion was made by Selectman Mills to place the <br />discussion of Road Management on the agenda, The motion was <br />seconded by Selectman Jacobson. VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br />Greg Taylor presented an outline of six potential road <br />projects within the Town of Mashpee. The Board is in agreement <br />to place this item on the agenda of Mondayâ–º March 3, 1993 for <br />further discussion. <br />:00 p.rn, David Eldredge- - Discover Flying re: Use of <br />Mash ee akeb Pond: <br />Contest Director of the Model Aircraft club known as <br />Discover Flying Radio control Club was present to discuss his <br />proposal to utilize the beach at MahpeeTakeby Pond for the <br />club t s Float Plane Fufly on May 15th and 16th from .9 : oo a .m. to <br />5 00 p.m. <br />Mr. Eldredge indicted that approximately 30 people attend <br />the event. No more than three planes are allowed in the air at <br />one time for safety and to maintain adequate noise levels, Of <br />the thirty attendants, approximately 20 are actual flyers <br />informed Mr. Eldredge. <br />Enclosed for review was an insurance summary and a <br />description of the Academy of Model Aeronautics as submitted by <br />Mr. Eldredge. It was noted that in the- part, the club has used <br />the site of Hamblin's Pond in Barnstable for their flying event. <br />*The Board is in agreement to take this under advisement at <br />this time for further review. The Waterways commission and Town <br />Counsel will be consulted with regards to this concern. <br />Mr. Whritenour will also contact the Town of Barnstable for <br />an opinion* <br />
