BOARD OF SELECTMEN Page <br />MINUTES <br />M N A , JUNE 1 1993 <br />Barnstable County Fair Traffic Discussion: <br />Mrs. Weeks indicated that she will work with Chief Frye as <br />to placing an additional police officer in John's Bond center. <br />She noted that a police officer is stationed at the entrance of <br />John's Fond Estates, Two officers are also stationed in the area <br />of Old Barnstable Road noted Mrs. Weeps. <br />With regards to noise concerns, Mrs. Weeks indicated that <br />she has discussed this concern with the Midway operator and has <br />recommended to lower the music at 10: o p,mo <br />Approximately 75,000 paid adults entered the fair last year <br />paying a $5.00 entry fee informed Mrs. Weeks, h'e indicated that <br />a parking fee is charge in two lots near the entry mate. Seventy- <br />five percent of fair parking is free noted Mrs. Weeks, To <br />compensate for a large payroll, a $2,00 fee is charged to park in <br />the lots near the fair ent ranee . <br />To recap, Selectman vaccaro indicated that two police <br />officers will he stationed -at old Barnstable Road. A police <br />officer will be stationed at John's Pond Estates. An additional <br />police officer will be stationed in John's Pond center with hours <br />to be determined. It is the agreement to divert traffic to old <br />Barnstable Road, There will he no parking along Rte. 151, The <br />noise from Midway will he reduced at 10:30 p.m. <br />In the future, portable traffic lights ill be considered <br />noted selectman vaccaro. Alternate traffic routes will be <br />coordinated with neighboring towns. Radio coverage will aid t <br />alert people of traffic concerns. This will also be incorporated <br />into the fair advertisement noted selectman Vaccarow <br />Deputy Cooper indicated that traffic reports may be <br />available free of charge via the news media* if the traffic <br />problems are alleviated, there may be increased fair attendance. <br />Warning people of traffic concerns may be detrimental to <br />Mashpee indicated Brian Anderson, owner of Andy's Market. The <br />problem at the fair grounds has never been confronted. The <br />pedestrian traffic flow of the fair should be studied noted <br />Mr. Anderson, There has never been a traffic plan for the flow <br />of traffic and pedestrians., <br />0 <br />
