5 <br />0 <br />BOARD OF SELECTMEN Page <br />MINUTES <br />MONDAYF JUNE 7r 1993 <br />Robert Sherman re: Nutrient Loadin <br />Mr. Sherman indicated that alternate de -nitrification <br />systems are currently being reviewed* We will be able to make <br />determinations next year as to the effectiveness of the alternate <br />systems. <br />The 5 ppm regulation was promulgated by the conservation <br />Commission on May 13, 1993 indicated Mr. Sherman. A Public <br />Hearing is scheduled on June 24, 1993 to discuss and review the <br />draft proposal as revised by Town counsel. <br />p.m. Recess 9: o2 p.m. Meeting Resumed <br />Request to Use John's Pond <br />Sergeants; George Harris and Dennis Flynn of the <br />Massachusetts Military Academy, camp Edwards were present to <br />request the use of John's Pond for boat operations. <br />Last year, the Selectmen approved the use of John's Pond for <br />Project QUEST informed Sergeant Harris. This was a tremendous <br />success* Of the lob students, three were selected from Mashpee. <br />Water safety and confidence training are scheduled this year <br />informed Sergeant Harris. of the lob students, three have .- <br />been selected from Mashpee. Large rubber amphibious boats will <br />be used without motors noted Sergeant Harris. <br />Dates to conduct the boat operations include; July 20, 199 <br />and July 27, 1993, July 23, 1993 has been selected for a <br />cookout. Alternate dates have been selected in the event of <br />inclement weather noted Sergeant Harris. <br />Ambulatory support is re quezted on July 20, 1993 and July <br />7, 1993 indicated Sergeant Harris. Acting Fire Chief Baker has <br />supported this request subject to the Board of Selectmen's <br />approval. <br />Sergeant Harris indicated that he will contact the Leisure <br />Services Director regarding swimming lessons and review the <br />ambulatory support as it relates to the Barnstable county Fair. <br />**The motion was made by Selectman costa to approve the dates <br />as requested by the Massachusetts Military Academy for Use of <br />John's Pond to include ambulatory support. The motion was <br />seconded by Selectman caf fyn . VOTE: Unanimous. -o . <br />
