1 BOARD OF SELECTMEN Page MINUTES MONA, AUGUST 91 1 COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE Commanders Coffee � Cape Cod Consortium: Selectman Caf fyn indicated that she attended the Commanders Coffee with members of the Upper Cape Cod Consortium. Representative C hir and members of the Board of selectmen from Falmouth, Sandwich and Bourne were present in a consortium effort to discuss the protection of Cape waters. In particular, John's Pond. We were well received by the Military informed selectman Caffyn. Our message is clear as to the severity and seriousness of the problem, We have to push forth and demand a resolution indicated selectman Caf fyn . Community Action Statement: Mr. whritenour indicated that he has initiated the process to apply for funding through the Small Cities Grant program. Funding is available for economic development, cultural and hurnan services, housing and implementing sidewalks noted r, Whritenour4o NEW BUSINESS: Request of Mashpee Common re: Carousel Melinda Gallant, Manager of Mashpee Commons was present to discuss the proposal to operate a carousel on the premises of Ma h ee Commons. The carousel, owned and operated by the Carousel of Fight Foundation will benefit the Cape Cod Cancer society informed s. Gallant* Volunteers will operate the carousel six days at week until the end of October, weather permitting 'indicated Ms. Gallante The carousel has been inspected by the State Inspector and carries adequate insurance coverage for the rider and carrier. All local regulatory agencies have approved the carousel with reference to safety standards noted Ms. Gallant. *The motion was made by selectman Costa to approve the carousel on the premises of Mashpee Commons as described to expire October 31, 1993. The motion was seconded by selectman Caffyn, VOTE: Unanimous. -o.
