1 <br />BOARD OF SELECTMEN Page <br />MINUTES <br />MONA, AUGUST 91 1 <br />COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE <br />Commanders Coffee � Cape Cod Consortium: <br />Selectman Caf fyn indicated that she attended the Commanders <br />Coffee with members of the Upper Cape Cod Consortium. <br />Representative C hir and members of the Board of selectmen from <br />Falmouth, Sandwich and Bourne were present in a consortium effort <br />to discuss the protection of Cape waters. In particular, John's <br />Pond. <br />We were well received by the Military informed selectman <br />Caffyn. Our message is clear as to the severity and seriousness <br />of the problem, We have to push forth and demand a resolution <br />indicated selectman Caf fyn . <br />Community Action Statement: <br />Mr. whritenour indicated that he has initiated the process <br />to apply for funding through the Small Cities Grant program. <br />Funding is available for economic development, cultural and hurnan <br />services, housing and implementing sidewalks noted <br />r, Whritenour4o <br />NEW BUSINESS: <br />Request of Mashpee Common re: Carousel <br />Melinda Gallant, Manager of Mashpee Commons was present to <br />discuss the proposal to operate a carousel on the premises of <br />Ma h ee Commons. <br />The carousel, owned and operated by the Carousel of Fight <br />Foundation will benefit the Cape Cod Cancer society informed <br />s. Gallant* <br />Volunteers will operate the carousel six days at week until <br />the end of October, weather permitting 'indicated Ms. Gallante <br />The carousel has been inspected by the State Inspector and <br />carries adequate insurance coverage for the rider and carrier. <br />All local regulatory agencies have approved the carousel with <br />reference to safety standards noted Ms. Gallant. <br />*The motion was made by selectman Costa to approve the <br />carousel on the premises of Mashpee Commons as described to <br />expire October 31, 1993. The motion was seconded by selectman <br />Caffyn, VOTE: Unanimous. -o. <br />
