DOD CF.LCTMEN Page <br />MINUTES -PUBLIC HEARING <br />THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 101 <br />Renovation of the Ma .hpee Wampanoag Tribal Council <br />Administration and Social Service Center proposes to improve <br />interior repairs, heating, electrical, roofing repairs and <br />handicap accessibility improvements indicated Nis. Travers Gay. <br />Included in the -renovation is the connection of the vacant <br />structure to the existing building noted Ms. Travers Gay. The <br />Tribal Council Service Center Building currently offers <br />emergency food and shelter programs, heating assistance programs <br />and a head.th clinic indicated . Travers Gay. <br />Nis. Travers Gay indicated that the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal <br />Council is eligible to participate in the Small Cities Grant <br />Application since they are not federally recognized as a Native <br />American Tribe. <br />n Aquaculture Training Program is proposed to provide a <br />work/study program in shellfish farming while working on an <br />aï¿œuaculture opera ion progra indica ed Mr. Whritenour. <br />The above program will create new jobs and promote natural <br />resource based economic development related Mr. Whritenour, T <br />will also enhance our shellfish resources* <br />n Affordable'Housing Study will aid to analyze needs for <br />current and future affordable housing and housing facilities <br />indicated Mr. Whritenouro <br />All characteristics of our local economy can be analyzed in <br />the study of Economic Development Feasibility related <br />Mr, Whritenourqp <br />n Economic Development Feasibility Study will aid to <br />analyze Mashpee's unemployment and characteristics of the <br />unemployed population* <br />The consultant will be directed to evaluate potential for <br />developing a municipal industrial park, clean industry and a <br />heritage/cultural center noted Mr. Whritenoure <br />Response to a Request for Proposal for Social Service <br />Projects were received from the Thorne Clinic, Visiting Nurses <br />Association, Legal Services for Cape Cod and Islands and -Sigh <br />Loss Services . <br />Nis. Travers Gay indicated that Sight Loss Services cannot be <br />included in the application. The application allows for new <br />and/or expanded services only. <br />4D <br />
