To offer documentary evidence. <br /> Said hearing wig. take place no later than ten working <br /> days from the day of notification of the anticipated Personr <br /> nel Board act o n, by the' Board of Selectmen, or.Department <br /> Head involved. After such hearing, the Personnel Board win <br /> forward their written report and recomwndations to the Board <br /> of Selectmen and other appointing authority involved. There <br /> after, the Board of Selectmen or other appointing authority <br /> will give caref l., thorough consideration to the recom enda-m <br /> tions of the Personnel Board. if the recommendations of the <br /> Board are contrary- to the proposed action, the appointing <br /> authority vM meet personally with the Board before taking <br /> that action. Nothing.ng herein contained dirdnishes, or in ar <br /> way impinges upon the statutory rights and perrogatives of <br /> t o Board of Selectmen respecting final decisions on. appoint- <br /> ments <br /> po nt- <br /> ments of employees appointed by them. <br /> (b) ariv employee feels aggrieved for any reason, he shall <br /> first discus-9 the matter with his Department Fead, in a mutual <br /> effort to clear up problems or misunderstandings. If after <br /> conference a satisfactory understanding and solution of the <br /> problems has not been reached, then either the Department Head <br /> or the employee may tape the matter to the Board. The Board <br /> shall hear employee and Department Head separately or <br /> together, within ten 1 working days of being notified of <br /> the grievance. <br /> The Board will submit its finding within tern l working days <br /> of the meeting at which. the grievance was heard in writing, <br /> to the Board of ' electmen (cc: to employee and cc; to Depart- <br /> ment Read). If the Board"s findings are adverse, the employee <br /> may thea appeal to the Board of Selectmen for a full. hearing <br /> in public* (Executive session will be held only if both <br /> Selectmen and employee so agree). if the Selectmen are consid-o <br /> ening a decision contrary to the Board's decision, then the <br /> Selectmen mst meet with the Board before taking any actions <br /> If the pertinent Department Head disagrees with the Board's <br /> findings, lei-should so notify the Board without delay. There <br /> shall not be any discrimination or pre Jadicia . acts against <br /> arq employee who takes a matter to the Board. <br /> (c) Arq' employee who is found to be intoxicated on the job, <br /> either by reason of alcohol or drugs or who consumes alcohol <br /> or drugs (unless prescribed by a prao taing physician) on the <br /> job, may be' suspended forthwith by the Department Read pending <br /> action by the Board.
