-22 - <br /> grievances <br /> -grievances shall be processed in accordance with the <br /> following procedure: <br /> 1 Grievance Defined: A grievance is a dispute or con- <br /> troversy between an employee, other than a probationary <br /> employee, and the Town over a specific provision of this <br /> Plan* <br /> 2 ) Grievance Steps : <br /> Step 1 -- An employee must submit a grievance in writing <br /> to his Department Head within five calendar days of <br /> the occurrence of the event giving rise to the grievance. <br /> The grievance shall contain: <br /> . Dame <br /> Nature of the grievance <br /> , Requested remedy <br /> d, Signature of the employee <br /> The Department Head shall respond in writing to the <br /> grievance within fiveworking days with a copy sent <br /> to the Personnel Board and the Board of Selectmen, <br /> Step 2 - If the employee is not satisfied with the answer <br /> given in Step 1 . the grievance must be submitted to the <br /> Personnel Board within five working days from the <br /> date the answer is received or the date it is dine, which- <br /> ever occurs first . The Board or designee of the Board <br /> shall consider it as soon as possible but not later than <br /> ten 10 working days after receipt of the grievance. <br /> The Board shall issue its reply in writing within five <br /> working days .
