CLASSIFICATION AND SALARY <br /> Pay Darr <br /> Town of Ma tepee employees are paid each Friday, However, <br /> checks are usually available for distribution after 2:00 P.Ma <br /> on Thursdays If you are not at work on Thursdays your <br /> supervisor* will hold your check until you return to work or <br /> you may request your super.visor to mail your check to you. <br /> Direct Iii ee o___ <br /> If you are interested i n having your pay check deposited <br /> directly into your checking or savings account, a form can- be <br /> obtained from the Personnel Office for thi ' purpose. <br /> Payroll Deductions <br /> Federal and state income taxes,, retirer ent and medicare, all <br /> required by law, are deducted from your weekly earnings. <br /> You may authorize voluntary deductions for any of the <br /> following: <br /> Health Insurance _ <br /> Life Insurance <br /> Cafeteria Plan <br /> Deferred Compensation <br /> Union Dues <br /> If you have additional questions regarding the above payroll <br /> deductions, refer to Benefits Section of this handbook or <br /> call the Personnel Office <br /> Salary Increases <br /> There are two types of salary increases that can affect an <br /> employee's salary over the course of the fiscal year <br /> 1 Employees may receive a salary/wase adjustment once a <br /> year, (cost of living incre e) and <br /> Employees may receive a step-rate increase once a year <br /> based upon satisfactory performance. <br /> Though most employees begin at Step 1, some employees may be <br /> hired above the minimum due to special qualifications with <br /> approval of the Personnel Board and t o Board of Selectmen or <br /> appointing authority. The yearly ei aluat ion for a step rate <br /> increase will usually fall on the anniversary of the day that <br /> the first step-rate increase was received. <br /> This process will continue until the employee has reached the <br /> final step after* which the employee will receive general <br /> salary/wage adjustments. <br /> If ars employee receives a promotion to a higher rated job., <br /> the employee shall enter at the minimum of that ,yob rate <br /> range or at the step rate next above his/her own ratewhich- <br /> ever is higher, The anniversary date for step increases <br /> would then fall on the date of promotion. <br /> Employees who are covered by a collective bargaining agree- <br /> ment hould refer to their agreement. <br />
