AUTHORIZED ABSENCES <br /> Leave of Absence <br /> Unpaid leaves of absence may be granted at the discretion of <br /> the Departmeht Head and the Board of Selectmen, Such leave <br /> is not to exceed three { months duration. All requests for <br /> such leave shall be made in writing at least one {1) month <br /> prior to the desired commencement of the leave, if passible, <br /> and shall indicate the approximate date of return. An <br /> employee on unpaid leave of absence shall not be entitled to <br /> holiday pay, nor, for leaves over one 1 month to accrue <br /> vacation time or sick leave time, or to be cornered by health <br /> insurance unless mutual arrangements are rade for the <br /> employee to continue pre iu payments during such l earn <br /> Sick Leave <br /> The Sick Leave Policy of the Town Inas been developed to pro- <br /> vide regular full-time and regular standard part-tifne <br /> employees who regularly work 20 hours or more per week the <br /> privilege of time off with pay in the case of personal, <br /> non-service connected sickness or injury. Employees are <br /> eligible t o accumulate 1 1 days monthly (after -probationar <br /> period) , with the ability to accumulate an ,unused days on <br /> unlimited basis, <br /> Regular non-standard employees shall be allowed one week of <br /> sick leave per year at their average Freely rate of pay after <br /> having worked for a minimum of 780 hours (15 hours weekly) . <br /> Any employee, upon retirement, or who dies while in Town <br /> service, who has accumulated sick leave in excess of sixty <br /> 6 days shall receive (1) one day' c omp en s a t i ori , for# every <br /> three ( days he has accumulated beyond si: ty 0) days. <br /> To be eligible for sick leave, the employee must notify his/ <br /> her immediate supervisor* on the first day of absence, stating <br /> the nature of illness or injury and the expected length of <br /> absence.
