PELECTMEN' S I I NUT
November 14, 1979
ti
Page
O'Connor: Reading from parts of the police reports
Apparently, these people had been asked to leave on
the first call. Approximately 15 minutes thereafter,
police units were requested back at the scene. We
have a taped recording of the conversation of the
complaint) which. indicated he was afraid to leave the
establishment with the receipts because the parties
were out in the parking lot once again. They wanted
to know what the police were 4oing to do about it.
The officers responded. They asked thea why they had
returned after they were asked to leave. The opinion
of Sgt. Cooper that the two parties be taken into
protective custody because of the influence of the
liquor.
Garland: I understand the result of this .incident would be the
} suspension of r. Acnes ' firearms permit.
O'Connor: That' s right. There is another allegation that lir.
Antes was armed with a . 38 caliber at the time of the
incident. we have a signed statement from the bar-
tender stating, "in a very short time they became very
unruly, At that point, one of then threatened me
to have me, scratched out, to have rye shot,, another
one was carrying an object that I believe was a gun.
At this point, I personally felt endangered. "
Pending complete investigation, I 've drafted a formal
letter to fir. . Acnes regarding suspension, that I will
make a decision as to whether to revoke his license
or to reinstate it.
Garland: This is not the intent to have a formal hearing now -
this is just to reveal certain facts . I would like
Mr, Antes, since he requested this session, to make any
statements he' s like to make regarding the reports
just read.
Town Counsel: Advi .e s Mr.. Antes that he has the right to have this
executive session open, and the right to counsel.
Ames: I would like it closed and to keep the Town laundry in
the office.
Substantially, what he has read is correct to the point
of the second call. we were not asked what we carne
back there for; that' s one of the discrepancies I see
in the report. I consider it fraudulent, No mention
was made at anytime last night to myself or any of the
other gentlemen, that I 'm aware of, that anything was
ever -said about shooting, As far as my weapon, it was
in the' trunk of my car. I had just retrieved it, it.
was in hand when I was putting it to. . .because we were
going in the other car, in an attempt to get a lady to
